It’s what’s underneath that counts

Now in its third year, Absolut’s ground-breaking fashion project, Absolut Label tasks the most exciting up-and-coming designers from around the world to design an essential fashion item. This year, it’s that most essential item of all – underwear. Eight designers were asked to celebrate the items we normally keep hidden. One of these designers is our very own countryman Lesley Mobo, head designer for Harrods.

A 19th-century masked ball with a modern twist was the theme of the night as Absolut unveiled the 1879 Collection at an old mansion in Dasmariñas Village in Makati. Guests came in elegant black and donned period masks. The event featured a choreographed dance by yogis followed by a fashion show featuring the 1879 Collection. The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the underwear made Lesley Mobo.

How do you want your vodka served?

The classic way with Seven-Up and a big slice of lemon. That way, it masks the impurities without totally bastardizing the vodka. I also prefer it served in a classic martini glass with three olives. It’s probably the most fashionable way to appreciate fabulous vodka.

I would put a nipple on it like a baby bottle.

How do you avoid being a victim of fashion?

I keep it simple. Having too many things going on in an outfit spells disaster. I wear what is me, never something that is uncomfortable.

Shoes! I think it’s the best way to uplift my tired sole!

A lychee martini. It’s a sexy cocktail that inspires me to dress my best.
