Summer’s finest

When I found out that Nestea Beach Volley would be celebrating its 10th year in Boracay, I knew that it was one event I couldn’t afford to miss. So I flew to Boracay, hooked up with friends and enjoyed the annual summer event that continues to get bigger and more exciting each year.
For three fun-filled days, Boracay was a beehive of activity as Nestea pulled out all the stops in an event that featured exhilarating beach volley action from the country’s top beach volley players, a fashion show by the PMAP models and NBV Team 10, parties featuring DJ Manolet Dario and a concert headlined by Bamboo.

Where did you play your first beach volley game?
In Gold Coast, Australia, some eight years ago. I also played indoor volleyball but beach volleyball is so different.

Who would you like to have as your beach volley teammate?
Diego Castillo, the Sandwich guitarist, because he’s a great leader and has a knack for trash talking. He also has somewhat of a violent nature and, most importantly, he’s a very, very close friend of mine. He’s like a big brother to me.
ROVILSON FERNANDEZ
How did sports shape your personality?
It taught me the values of discipline. To compete in sports, you have to be disciplined and this translates into my lifestyle as well.I had my share of stargazing this summer when celebrities mingled with their fellow stars at the YES! thanksgiving dinner as it celebrated its six glorious years of breaking showbiz news.
The Grand Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza was a sight to behold with cameras clicking and excitement at an all-time high. JG Summit CEO Lance Gokongwei offered everyone a warm welcome, then YES! magazine editor in chief Jo-Ann Maglipon talked about six years of credible celebrity news reporting and expressed her gratitude to all YES! supporters.
