The great makeup book challenge
May 19, 2006 | 12:00am
No one ever said that applying makeup was easy. The kabuki-looking women who cross our paths every other day or the ones that just dont bother going near the beauty counters and walk around as plain Janes are living proof that the plethora of colors and techniques can be intimidating to almost everybody. Some people have taken it upon themselves to write how-to books on this perplexing topic. We decided to test if these authors really knew what they were talking about or whether their writing belongs in the fiction section.
We asked the help of three top celebrity hosts and models to devour these books for a few weeks and let us know if the words rang true by doing just what the book says they can do: put their own makeup.
By going to the top beauty counters in the city and seeing the limitless possibilities, these girls were brave enough to show us if they learned the skill they needed to do it all by themselves. We asked the help of top TV and print professional makeup artist Christine Duque to check if what the girls did was right. Read on and see which book should be your next purchase.
All books are available at Fully Booked at PowerPlant Mall, Rockwell.
