Endless summer

CHEERS! - DJ Montano -
With summer at its climax, Boracay is in full sunshine and swing. At a recent trip to my favorite island in the world, Boracay Mayor Ceciron Cawaling proved to us that the sun keeps on shining even brighter on this beautiful island which never fails to amaze and fascinate.
Opening Cocktails At Asya
Asya Resort is one of the newest spots to open on the island. Owned by Choy Cojuangco, this place evokes so much class and tropical charm. Landscaped by Mabolo’s very talented Antonio Garcia, its large and beautifully-appointed rooms each have perimeter pocket gardens. There’s a private swimming pool and an in-house restaurant called Traviessa of the Dos Mestizos fame. Choy hosted a lovely evening with delish beach cocktails and yummy fare from Traviessa.
Modelympics
With over 100 participants, consisting of models, designers and celebrities, running amuck in the island a la Amazing Race looking for clues at the island’s newest hot spots to see who gets to finish first and achieve the most, the Modelympics was certainly a test of beauty, brains and endurance.
Bold Faces
The country’s top designers, in cooperation with the Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP), presented a tres chic resortwear fashion show at the beautiful beachfront of The Pearl of The Pacific, directed by Robbie Carmona. Participating designers included Rhett Eala, Gerry Katigbak, Ivar Aseron, PJ Arañador, Jojie Lloren, Dennis Lustico, Vic Barba, Tonichi Nocom, and the late Mel Vergel de Dios. Seen in the audience were no less than Mayor Cawaling, Pearl of The Pacific’s Sanson family. Among the columnists present were Maurice Arcache, Pepper Teehankee, Jenni Epperson and Ana Kalaw. Also seen were Delgado siblings Carmen and Ricky with guest Ed Hermes, Louie Cruz and constant partner Mike Reita.
Seair’s 11th Hour
Seair went full blast with San Miguel Beer and a live band that had the audience up on their bare feet on the sand to celebrate Seair’s 11th anniversary. Congratulations to Seair’s Patrick Tan and Nick Gistis! I love flying to Bora on the airline’s new Dornier aircraft. With a 35-minute flight from Manila, I arrive in Bora after just getting through half of my Madonna album on my iPod. Now that’s a ray of light.
Bora’s Hip And Yummy Spots
Models, designers and celebrities overran the island, hopping from one resto/bar/shop to another. On your next trip, check out Club Paraw, Café Ischa, Hey Jude, Aria, Cyma, Island Chicken Inasal, Palo Maria, Bamboo Lounge, Traviessa, Café Breizh, Crab House at Escondido, Juice Bar and Gasthoff.
The Drink Of Champions

I now have another favorite drink on the island: Paradise Mango Rum. It’s just the perfect drink to have at sunset or even after. Just watch it because a sip will get you hooked. The mayor has just declared it the official drink of Boracay.
