Tiesto invades Manila

DJ Tiesto was born Tijs Verwest on January 17, 1969 in Holland. He started with a mobile show around the country and then moved on to student parties and then to three nights a week in a club. In 1997, he formed Black Hole Recordings with Arny Bink. Black Hole then launched the highly-acclaimed "Magik, In Search of Sunrise" and "Nyana" mix compilations. In 2001, Tiesto formed Magik Muzik, a sub label that he describes as "home of my records and of people whose work I really believe in."

Tiesto was voted best DJ in the world for three consecutive times in DJ Magazine. In 2002, after winning almost every dance-related award, Tiesto was voted DJ Magazine’s No. 1 DJ in the world. He went on to win it in 2003 and 2004 being the first DJ to be voted three years in a row. Also in 2003, he won three TMF-Awards (Holland and Belgium), two Dutch DJ Awards and an MTV Europe Award. He also he won more awards in 2004 winning two Dutch TMF-Awards for Best Dance Act and Best DJ.

In 2003, Tiesto was the first ever DJ to fill a 25,000-seater stadium event with a solo stint. As his events increased in popularity, Tijs performed in 2004 at two shows in Holland and Belgium to over 70,000 fans. The second half of 2004 saw Tiesto performing in front of over 70,000 people in the Olympic Games in Athens as well as to the billions of television viewers from all over the world. In 2005, DJ Tiesto was the first ever DJ to play at Disneyland Resort Paris to launch the new Space Mountain: Mission 2 ride and a tour in the United States, culminating in a six-hour set in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve.

He claims to only want to share his music but he has done more than that. He has redone the whole dance music scene with his awe-inspiring craft of mixing house, trance and techno.
