The seventh style

CIRCUIT TRAINING - JR Isaac -
Mild Seven recently paid tribute to seven of Manila’s most stylish individuals at Manila DJ Club at The Fort. Awarded most stylish individuals were Borgy Manotoc, the requisite in-demand model; Gino de la Paz, columnist; Jenny Chan, fashionista freelance-writer; Kat Cruz, stylist of Just Shop and Good Finds; Liz Uy, associate fashion editor of Preview magazine; Miguel Rosales, stylish interior designer; and Peewee Reyes, fashion editor of Meg magazine. Guests were kept in high spirits by DJ Mau Torres’ sexy house music and Rene Barbier’s free flowing wines. The highlight of the party was the unveiling of the honorees’ blown-up photos by Raymund Isaac.

The seven stylish awardees revealed their style secrets, like where they shop, tips on styling and the inspiration behind their fashion sense. A giant video-wall was installed on the ceiling, which showed a collage of images of the awardees, as they were called onstage to receive goody bags from Mild Seven and a plaque to remind them how they’ve shaped and defined style in Manila. Cheers and applause energized the night, which lasted until the bar went dry.

KAT CRUZ

What is your shopping creed?

Don’t be afraid to buy retail. There’s a world of difference between you and common folk – provided you put your own twist to it and not wear it as is. Fantasize, actualize, and then accessorize.

JENNY CHAN

What’s your secret to looking stylish?

I don’t follow trends.  I only buy what I think suits my body and my personality.

MIGUEL ROSALES

Where do you usually shop?

Anywhere from vintage stores to designer boutiques. And if I can’t find it, I have it made.

LIZ UY

What are your three most important style essentials?

Textured high-heeled pumps, bold accessories and a killer smile.

KYM DE GUZMAN

What music best describes your style?

World music because my style is eclectic. Everywhere I go, I take a little piece of that place with me and incorporate it into my wardrobe.

VINCE UY

What are your style secrets?

Don’t be afraid to be creative in your own way. As long as you’re happy with the way you look, it’s all that matters.

PAULINE JUAN

What do you have a lot of in your wardrobe?

Shoes. I really love Hot Wind shoes at the moment. I’m building a collection. I have 18 pairs and counting.

RAYMOND GUTIERREZ

What is your everyday style?

Jeans, sneakers, shirt and sunglasses all the time. I want to be casual, comfortable and laid-back.

PEPPER PINEDA

What was your favorite fashion purchase?

A handbag I’d been eyeing for quite some time. Really felt good when I actually bought it for myself.

PEEWEE REYES

What makes a person stylish?

The special way she puts together an outfit and, more importantly, the way she car-ries herself.

AMINA ARANAZ

Do you dress for comfort or style?

I must admit I often dress more for style! You’re talking to a girl who went on a hiking trip in two-inch high-heeled boots! As crazy as it sounds, I am more at home in heels than in sneakers.

GINO DE LA PAZ

How would you describe your style?

Holden Caulfield possessed by the spirit of Kurt Cobain during spring break somewhere in South America. I’m totally new generation glocal – that’s global/local – but with old soul undertones.

BORGY MANOTOC
