Our hair remains our crowning glory and should be kept healthy at all times. Seeing that shampooing your hair is not enough to make your hair super beautiful, Cream Silk recently kicked off its Hair Make Over Mission at the Rockwell Tent, which was decked with chairs, mirrors, a washing area and a lounge. At the event, guests were treated to free hair consultations from the country’s top salons, Toni & Guy and Lucy Britanico, and were attended by the Cream Silk beauties, Amanda Griffin, Bea Alonzo, Heart Evangelista, and Shaina Magdayao. It was a fascinating gathering and exchanging of pleasantries about healthy hair rituals and secrets.

What is the craziest thing you’ve done with your hair?
Permed it! I regret it each time I do it to my hair. It ruins my hair... and my life! Though I still get the urge to do so from time to time!

What is your daily hair regimen?
My daily hair regimen is fuss-free. All I do is shampoo and condition my hair. I try to avoid using styling products or blow drying so I minimize hair damage.

Who is your hairstyle icon?
My trusted hairstylist is Vidal Sassoon-trained Jude Hipolito of Kaizen. I met him a couple of years ago while shooting for Preview in Boracay, and he has been cutting my hair ever since. Jude cuts hair like a Japanese artist trims a bonsai. He studies the cut first, the shape of your head, and also takes into consideration the colors that will go well with your cut. (Kaizen color specialist Rose Velasco then colors my hair). Jude’s also downright honest, and tells me what suits me. The best thing about Jude’s cut is that it grows out well – that, to me, is the trademark of a master hairstylist.

What do you do when you have a bad hair day?
I usually run some Cream Silk Leave-On Conditioner to smooth it out and it instantly moisturizes my hair. Then I put my hair up in a bun or use a headband.

What hairstyle would you not be caught dead in?
I don’t think there’s a hairstyle I wouldn’t try. I’ve done the pixie chop, asymmetric bangs, mullets, purple dye, the flip, big curls, even the old school helmet coif with half a can of hairspray. Playing around with hair is a lot of fun!

I use Cream Silk Protect Plus regularly because it protects my hair from the damaging effects of everyday styling. So even if I curl, straighten, color or even just blow dry or brush my hair, I’m sure my hair remains healthy.

I use Cream Silk Black Shine with Henna Extracts because it makes my hair beautifully black and extra shiny. The dramatic effect of my shiny black hair comes out both on and off cam.

How often do you condition your hair?
I use Cream Silk hair conditioner every day to keep my hair beautiful and healthy. Ending my shower with just shampoo is like not putting lotion after a bath. My hair feels very dry and vulnerable to elements that can damage it like sun and pollution.

How do you take extra care of your hair?
I make sure I shampoo and condition with Cream Silk every day. I also get a haircut and treatment once a month.

How often do you have hair treatments?
Rarely because my conditioner already deeply moisturizes and keeps my hair soft and manageable. I treat myself to hair treatments maybe once every three months as a way to relieve myself of stress. The long, soothing scalp massage is what keeps me going back for hair treatments.
