Who needs a hero?

Tanqueray was flooding Castro in Malate as revelers and patriots celebrated Independence Day.
Dubbed the Green Revolution Party, the Castro party was filled with guests ready to indulge in a wicked night of cocktail revelry. The drink choices varied from sweet to bitter taste mixtures. As the fete progressed, I observed how an individual choice of drink reflected personal complexity.
After several cocktails were served, the guests painted their own image of a hero. And in the end, it was a delight to know from both a historical and literal sense that a hero symbolizes the nation’s resilient attitude towards hope.
