It’s undeniably party season once again! As the party solstice comes to make its final turn, the perfidious but merry "ber" months have made their presence felt.
Although the superficies of the modern fete has changed considerably, its heartbeat and spirit is still very much the same. Here’s to a season of more champagne chagrin, scandale mind games, hook-ups, breakups and a hell of a lot of Berocca to stave off wicked hangovers. YStyle in its true fashionably fight way has decided to celebrate this glamorous part of the year just before September keeled over.
So the Personali-tee Pah-tee was born. U shirts made the perfect canvas for all the YStyle friends stylish genius, and was ripped, bedazzled and painted to their liking. I figured that a smart invitation is sure to let the "I’m busy" excuse non-existent, after all there is nothing like a "tees". For a town much reputed to be spoilsports in theme parties, even I (one with an effervescent and optimistic party spirit) was shocked with the game crowd!
The celestial moderne Restaurant 12 was transformed into a Bridget Riley-inspired soiree joint thanks to the duo Miguel Rosales and Ovvian Castrillo of MO Design. They are the team responsible for the look of almost all the glam party events of BBC and Big Fish. "We wanted to play around the newspaper theme, thus the black and white colors, brightened with some yellow accents that means STAR of course," Miguel explains.
Glitter came in the alternatively less sparkly but nonetheless arresting feather balls that lined the main cocktail area, graphic vinyl mats on the floor, starkly patterned striped and polka dot table runners layered over each other and La Dolce Vita playing over the window curtains drive in cinema style. For a psychedelic effect, there was no Absolut exception for the cocktails not be in order. Ten designer cocktails were concocted by the bar Merlins of Restaurant 12, all named after each YStyle column. As if we had enough booze to enervate the senses, Torres wine happily passed around their concorde class wines all through the night!
Scrambled Edge of BBC Manila played his chic tracks that only augmented the mood of the mod mob. Revelers of every sobriquet (lush, mush, slutty gem, tart, stud) dilly dallied and pranced about like peacocks in their smart tees. However it is said that everyone has their price so as an incentive we decided to compensate those who dared!
Steph Sarmiento won the grand prize of a round trip ticket to Boracay and three-day stay at the luxurious Nami resort for her deconstructed tee that glowed with blinking christmas lights. Party animals Domini and Joanne Primero won The Osiake Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum award for being the cutest couple of the night as they displayed thier shirts emblazoned with thier pet names for each other. Mich Dulce’s creation as modeled by Rissa Mananquil won the Shu Uemura Avant Garde award. Isha Andaya of Preview wore the winning Ivar Aseron shirt that won the Best Designer award which came with a sleepover at a suite at the Peninsula. Swatch’s Jekyll and Hyde award, the shirt that your evil alter-ego would wear went to Tony Hotung in his shirt trailing with his handprints. Fag stag award went to BBC’s Mike Constantino , for wearing a styling shirt fit only for a fag stag of course. Mumph Ruiz won the Swatch Metrosexual Award for having the best accessory there is his long locks that are seriously conditioned. Faith Lavarro won the Annam Statement Shirt award for her not so subtle tee. Myrza Sison, top femme of Cosmopolitan Philippines, won the I’m so Fab Award sponsored by New World Hotel for her tee sporting her fetching mug. Kaz Castillo and Adrian Calumpang won the Pineapple Stylish Couple Award with thier happening tees and attitude to match! Ria Romero, Joey’s fave girl, won the Girly Power Award sponsored by Intercontinental Hotel.
It was a night of flattery, fashion, cocktails, flirting, winning, schoomizing and sloshing. A night of fight people, fight music, fight cocktails, fight décor and fight fight. We gave everyone the ultimate pickup line for the night, stylish shirts to wax poetic over. Would you expect any less from us? After all fashion is the ultimate pickup line.
