Moshing, shuffling and gyrating were the order of the day last February 26 as people trooped to Freedom Bar in Anonas Quezon City to witness Clubska Manila presents: SKAMAX!
Norman Bernardo of Jeepney Joyride formally opened the event with "SKAMAX! Ska to the maximum". The Mighty Atoms and Out For Lunch energized the crowd with their unique moves. Immediately following were the ska pioneers in Laguna called The Spenglers who played a set of original songs.
Shuffle Union lead singer January Ubales did covers and originals. Their song "Freedom" got everybody up their feet to jiggle. Jeepney Joyride wowed the crowd with a wacky performance. Its set included the original "Kape". The group has shot the song’s video that will be released soon. Laguna’s Skandalosa capped the night with an electrifying performance.
SKAMAX! was created by Clubska Manila to train new ska bands to fine tune their sound and let them interact with each other. The next SKAMAX! will be on March 28 at the Freedom Bar.
