Stephanie Zubiri: Early Bloomer

Is style ever hereditary? I can’t help but ask when Steph Zubiri enters the studio. I mean, her mom is a staple fill of Manila’s Most Fashionable, and her brother could just be the most fashionable guy in Congress, and now, her. It’s definitely in the genes… and probably in the jeans, seeing her denim overall hug her size 0 frame very well.

Oh, and she’ll only 17, never mind if it easily seems that her homework consists of running through every issue of Bazaar or W. She’s actually going on her senior year in high school at the International School Manila and is squeezing in a little writing with her shopping knack and her book stack every once in a while.

As her fashion sense, it’s on serious mature mode. Something that comfortably welcomes her to the café society and transforms her from cute to beautiful. She even confesses to sharing her mom’s clothes.

But then again, grown up as she is, her style still makes her youthful. She experiments once in a while, hopping from mood to mood – skipping from urban to earthy in a wink. It all boils down to being chic.

How do you shop?

If I want it – BUY! But if I’m not sure, I reserve it. If I forget about it, then, oh well…

What’s your most expensive closet piece?

My prom gown, a Christian Lacroix backless! I just had to! It was beautiful with paint smeared all over it.

How do you keep up with the trends?

If I like the trend and it suits me, I’ll try it and it just might stay forever. If not, eew! I won’t even think about it.

How much time do you spend dressing up?

Sometimes five minutes. Sometimes three hours.

If you were to set the trend, what item of clothing would you immortalize?

A good watch and a nice plain white tee.

How do you compare your personality with your clothes?

What I wear reflects my moods. Sometimes, when I’m feeling earthy, I go environmental. Sometimes, I feel urban and go sleek. I’m a colorful cocktail and so are my clothes!
