Nightlife shifts gears at Mustang Bar

The whole of Metro Manila‘s party set converged last May 10 at Mustang Manila as it held its grand opening ushering in a new concept in partying.

Located at Pasong Tamo, Makati City across Don Bosco, Mustang Manila is inspired by the famous New York City watering hole Coyote Ugly.

Owners Alfred Lopez, PBA player Mark Telan, Jon Tajonera and Ted Tarriela personally selected the four Mustang girls who doubled as bartenders and temperature-risers with their sexy dance numbers atop the bar counter.

The Mustang girls are 19-year-old Janella Perez, Bea Zozobrado, Kristine Fredheim and group leader Telisha Arguelles, a 22-year-old Filipino-German-Irish who is also a budding commercial model and actress. Two more members, an American and a Fil-Canadian, are joining the group soon.

"It’s about time we bring something new to the night scene and we are close to becoming delirious that our patrons are increasing everyday," says Alfred. "It’s always a full-house here, especially on weekends."

PLDT president Manny Pangilinan led the glitzy crowd that trooped to Mustang Manila on its grand opening night, an extremely well-attended affair. Guests spilled over to the adjacent parking area.

Also in attendance were showbiz personalities Troy Montero, Vanessa del Bianco, Patrick Garcia, Danica Sotto, John Estrada, Mylene Dizon, Jeffrey Quizon, Boy II Quizon, Sunshine Dizon, Cogie Domingo, real estate scion Raymond Rufino, Asia Brewery vice president for marketing Jun Alcantara, model Anna Palabyab and MusicOne owner Anton Ramos.

Basketball players also joined in the fun — Robert Duat, Danny Seigle, Asi Taulava, Rudy Hatfield and Mike Cortez of the La Salle Green Archers.

Aside from the entertainment to be provided by the Mustang girls, special events are lined up in the coming days, like a weekly theme night featuring the girls in impish get-ups. On June 1, Saturday, it will be the Naughty Nurse night.

Every Saturday is Ladies’ Night; no cover charge for female guests. Celebrity bartenders and disc jockeys will be featured while a mechanical bull will spice up the bar’s Rodeo nights.

Mustang Manila is open Mondays to Saturday from 9 p.m. until the last guest leaves. The place can also be used for private parties every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
