Going androgynous, hip, geek, angelic, whatever, but never boring

- From the Philippine Star’s YS -
Nobody wants a boring hairdo.

That’s the reason why Schwarzkopf created five new looks for 2002.

Interpreted by the country‘s most talented hairdressers, these five new trend-setting looks — the Fallen Angel, Boy/Girl, Hippi, Geek Chic and No Name — were unveiled recently at the Palm Grove of Rockwell Club. Schwarzkopf’s Philippine Hairdresser of the Year and Avant-Garde winner Nikki Bacay (Piandre Salon), Commercial Style winner Victor Ortega (Emphasis Salon), Men’s Style winner Nelson Cruz (Nelson P. Cruz Salon), and leading stylists Cherry Reyes (David’s Salon) and Matt Del Valle (Rodger Craig International) came up with their own young and hip looks complemented by the cutting-edge fashion of designer Paolo Raymundo.

Officials of Top Style Marketing Inc., the exclusive distributor of Schwarzkopf products in the Philippines, led by president Cora Del Rosario, welcomed guests. Hosts were actor-model Kenji Marquez and VJ Clara Balaguer.

Ortega presented his take on the Fallen Angel look — a graduated cut with a rose-pink tone. To achieve this, he used Schwarzkopf’s OSiS XX-pand Gel-to-Mousse, Elastic Flexi Hold Spray, and Fibre Gum.

Next came Del Valle’s interpretation of the androgynous Boy/Girl look. For this, he shorned the model’s hair short and applied two brown tones.

For Reyes’ version of the Hippi look, three different shades were applied in three sections of the model‘s hair. Modern and fantastical at the same time, the hairstyle was complemented by Raymundo’s floral black top and full skirt.

Bangs bleached and combed either backward or forward were the highlights of Cruz’s rendition of the Geek Chic look. Suitable for both guys and girls, he achieved this with Schwarzkopf’s OSiS Hairbody Style & Care Spritz, Elastic Flexi Hold Spray, Grip Super Hold Foam and Freeze Super Hold Spray.

The final look of the night — No Name — was presented by Bacay. With three models, he gave his different interpretations for men and women. On one female model, he had the hair all spiked up. In another, he had it all combed in one direction. For his male model, hair on the side was shortened. Funky outfits further highlighted this look.

On May 28 and 31, Top Style Marketing will conduct trend seminars by Robert Seah. Schwarzkopf’s regional technical manager. Inquiries are welcome at 726-85-07 to 08.
