Dating 2002
January 20, 2002 | 12:00am
For girls only:
1. Do offer to pay. Even if he invited you and you want him to take the tab, offer anyway.
2. Do dress appropriately. Don’t be too provocative. Don’t be too made up. Act natural, don’t be someone you’re not. "Magpakatotoo ka, sister."
3. Do keep your options open. Don’t zero in on just one person. That’s the privilege of a girl. Enjoy it.
4. Do keep your mystery. Don’t dish out your dirty. You don’t want to appear heavy.
5. Do be charming. Even if he’s the ugliest guy on earth, don’t brush him off. At least try to gain a friend.
6. Don’t be aggressive. It’s good that girls know what they want. But if you try too hard, that’s offensive, too. Chill.
7. Don’t drop the guy’s phone calls. If you don’t like him after a first date, politely tell him off. Drop the bomb. At least he knows. If he bugs you after that, then you’re allowed meanness.
8. Don’t set expectations. Go with the flow. Just because you liked him after your first date doesn’t mean you have to jump into bed right away and expect him to marry you soon after. Take it easy. Enjoy the company. No pressure.
9. Don’t double book. One at a time. Remember Charlotte in Sex and the City? You wouldn’t want to come out as a slut do you?
10. Don’t impose, just recommend. If you don’t like the restaurant he’s taking you to, why not say, "Hey, there’s this new restaurant I hear is good…"
Listen up, boys!
1. Do re-confirm before a date. That’s a must.
2. Do be warm and friendly. Don’t be such a pa-cool dude.
3. Do bring protection. If you can’t be good, at least be safe. Just in case.
4. Do pay. Going Dutch sounds modern but prove that chivalry is not dead.
5. Do show her a good time, even you don’t like her. At least, be remembered for good things.
6. Don’t date friends. Choose only one. You can’t have your cake and eat it, too. Remember, girls talk.
7. Don’t kiss and tell. That’s so rude.
8. Don’t get drunk. Remember, you’re driving her home!
9. Don’t brag. Girls hate that of guys… when they start bragging about what they own, who they know, etc.
10. Don’t be a jerk. It’s eat and run. Not sleep and run.
