A need for Creed

- John Magsaysay of Young Star Magazine -
The good thing is, when faced with hysterical image-conscious rock title-grabbers, Creed is definitely a breather. They have none of the seven to nine-digit marketing budget and and the overly-fabricated propaganda. All that is left to Creed is its frontman Scott Strapp’s hair-raising-cum-ear-soothing voice (which puts Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder to shame), its in-your-face teen anthems, not to mention its raw live performances. And who says that is not enough? Here they are with two well-received, chart-topping singles and three soundtrack originals.

We’re the type of band who really functions under pressure, and there was definitely pressure to top ourselves this time," notes vocalist Strapp vaguely on the band’s timely evolution. Perhaps that is why no one was surprised with the recent release of their third album Weathered which is truly about time. Not to be mistaken for their present status, the Florida natives are in no way weathered out by the upcoming and challenging rock acts. Rather, the album is a feature of 11 Creed trademarked (if not enhanced) cuts bound for yet another killer time of platinum bagging. With the carrier "My Sacrifice" playing all out in the radio, not to mention the insistent higher aftershocks, could Weathered be yet another success story?
