Hounding Greyhoundz
December 1, 2001 | 12:00am
It ain’t the U.S. bus liner. Get out of town. Take a hike. FYI, Greyhoundz equals angst rock, loud music, tattoos, and nipple rings. Still have no clue? All you gotta do is watch them once and you’ll know all you need to know. The virginals might ask, "Are they mad?" Yes! They’re angry! They scream, jump, head bang, sweat. They’re shirtless and the crowd’s just as insane as they are!
Greyhoundz was the first of its kind. An insider describes them as "trendsetters" and the "benchmark" for Philippine rock ’n roll. What makes their music different from the whole bunch of "others" who followed their lead? "Watch us," vocalist Reg Rubio, says. They attribute their songs to personal experiences. Lyrics from Reg. Music from all. That’s five, all in all. They say their songs are an avenue for self-expression. They couldn’t care less what we think. "It’s not just the music," drummer TJ Brilliantes explains. They do it because it’s what they love.
Greyhoundz is five years old, and asked how much longer they’re gonna rock the house, they humbly answer, "Hanggang kaya." A brief 4-1-1 on the band, not the bus liner. To know about them more, take their advice and see for yourself!
