Meet Victor Silayan, TV's newest eye candy

It seems like TV5, the Happy Network, has finally found a leading man for their primetime princesses. Victor Silayan, a model and mixed martial artist, was introduced as one of the Happy Network’s contract stars in the press launch of TV5’s new drama-serye, Rod Santiago’s “The Sisters.”

Victor will be playing opposite lead star and likewise TV5’s new contract star Nadine Samonte and TV5’s homegrown talent Eula Caballero.

Philstar.com had the opportunity to talk to Victor Silayan at the press launch of “The Sisters” last Tuesday, July 12.

“The Sisters” will be Victor’s first TV project.

Showbiz newbie

“This is my first-ever project,” Victor said, referring to “The Sisters,” which will serve as his launching vehicle to stardom. For a showbiz newbie, Victor enjoys what he is doing.

“It's fantastic. Acting is an art and I am beginning to love it,” he said.

Unlike most new stars of today, Victor entered showbiz out of sheer curiosity. “It started out as a curiosity. I went into audition and ayun, nakuha ako.” But despite beginning his career with mere curiosity, Victor is taking his acting job very seriously.

“I take showbiz passionately. I take everything passionately. This is your job, this is your work; do it with passion. Do your work with passion and it will love you back,” Victor explained.

Dream role

We asked Victor if he had any dream role in mind and it seems like the showbiz newbie is not keen on being picky when it comes to acting roles. He surely takes his acting career passionately and he wants to be soon known for his versatility.

“I want to be the person who is very versatile. Kasi ‘di ba, something new, very exciting, challenging. Ako, whether it be the leading man, whether it be the kontrabida, the stuntman, okay lang (sa akin).”

Right now, Victor will be playing Warren, a rich kid who will be Eula Caballero’s love interest in “The Sisters.”

The next big thing

Being the grandson of the late Vic Silayan, people cannot help but compare Victor to the late acting legend.

“It's up to me to keep the legacy of my grandpa. Ayoko namang sirain ang legacy niya. I'm gonna make him proud,” said the showbiz newcomer.

Groomed to be TV5’s next big leading man, Victor does not feel pressured.

“I feel honored. I am surprised. It gives me more thryst,” the young actor claimed.

Victor does not also mind intrigues coming his way. Despite being new, he definitely is no stranger to the industry.

“Kasama naman yun, eh (referring to intrigues). It is a challenge to your morals and values; on how do you take it. I know who I am. My friends know who I am… Actually, I do not really care about what people will think. You know yourself. Stick to your values,” he said with conviction.

Rod Santiago’s “The Sisters” airs weeknights on TV5 starting July 18 after “Bangis.”
