The Script holds successful Manila concert

- Featured Blogger Aaron Erick Lozada -

“For the First Time” is The Script’s first single from their new album, and that is how their Manila concert could likewise be described. The Script held their very first concert in Manila at the Araneta Coliseum last Saturday, April 16.

The Script is an Irish band composed of Danny O'Donaghue, Mark Sheehan and Glen Power. Their music boasts of “blending hip-hop lyrical flow with pop melodiousness, state-of-the-art R'n'B production with anthemic rock dynamics, classic song construction with gritty contemporary narratives. It's got all the emotion and passion you would expect from across the Irish sea, but it is glittering in its modernity, universal in its singalong addictiveness and global in its syncopation, music for the feet, heart and head,” according to their official website.

Pinoy Gossip Boy was among the very select guests to the short but rather meaningful press conference of the Irish trio held at the Mactan Ballroom of the Shangri-La Hotel on EDSA. I was very fortunate to be given the chance to ask The Script questions about their album and their concert.

Following the success of their first album, a self-titled one, The Script announced their second album, “Science and Faith.” I asked them how the second album was different from the first, and they told me that this new album best reflect who they are and we can feel nothing but sincerity and all honesty from it.

I likewise asked them what could we expect from their concert, which will be held later that day. At first, Danny, the band’s vocalist, joked about them going on stage in their boxers. But as Danny clarified, they meant that we will see who they really are – giving their best performance as if it was their last.

I watched the concert at the Araneta later that day. I am not really into music and I never thought I would enjoy the concert. But The Script proved me wrong. Indeed, The Script’s music is full of emotion and passion. The Araneta Coliseum was jam-packed, with only SRO tickets available. While The Script is not as popular as other pop soloists, the last Saturday's concert proved that they have a massive fan base here in the Philippines.

The crowd sang along with every song the band performed. True enough, their music is quite addictive. Every direction I point my sight to, I can see people singing along with The Script. It was truly a wonderful experience; nothing short of fantastic. Thank you The Script for sharing your music!
