Tastes and sounds of Italy at Makati Shang

MANILA, Philippines –  The finest in food, wine, fashion, music and innovation from Italy will arrive at Makati Shangri-La, Manila through Esperienza Italiana, a week-long festival that promises a total sensory experience of Italian culture.“This year, Makati Shangri-La, Manila pays tribute to what the Italian heritage has contributed to the world. We are pleased to invite our guests to partake of an authentic Italian experience right here in the grand halls of Makati Shangri-La,” said Alain Borgers, area manager of the Shangri-La Philippine properties and general manager of Makati Shangri-La, Manila. The celebration will highlight three main events: Aperitivo Italiano at Sage Bar, L’Artisan dinner by Michelin-starred Chef Rocco Iannone and That’s Amore, a concert featuring the Manila Symphony Orchestra.

Relive the tradition of an authentic Italian Aperitivo at Sage Bar, where guests can enjoy good food, great wine and excellent company. Enjoy an array of fine Italian wines and spirits, pair each wine with aperitif and nibble on savory Italian antipasti. Aperitivo Italiano will be at Sage Bar on Oct. 19, 21 and 23 from 6 to 10 p.m.

Cap off the night with a Made in Italy experience as Italian luxury brands Paul & Shark and Piquadro showcase the latest trends on Oct. 23.

Michelin-starred chef Rocco Iannone will also take you on a gastronomic journey through a five-course dinner entitled L’Artisan.  A firm believer in natural, unsophisticated cuisine, Chef Rocco is the owner-chef of Pappacarbone on Italy’s Amalfi Coast. Famed for his reinterpretation of traditional Italian cuisine, Chef Rocco has created a menu of traditional Italian dishes and light classics exclusively for Makati Shangri-La, Manila.  Each dish blooms with flavor when paired with premier estate family wines, including Antinori on Oct. 20, Chiarlo on Oct. 21, Masi Agricola on Oct. 22 and Allegrini on Oct. 23 at Sage Bespoke Grill from 6 to 10:30 p.m. 

On Oct. 22 at 7:30 pm, the 30-piece Manila Symphony Orchestra, along with three tenors and one soprano, will transform the Lobby Lounge into a unique Italian musical theatre. Entitled “That’s Amore,” the repertoire consists of contemporary and classic songs illustrating the Italians’ vitality and passion for life. Guests will enjoy pre-show aperitif in the main lobby at 6:30 p.m.
