Tourists to get free SIM cards from Globe
MANILA, Philippines – Globe Telecom, in its partnership with the Department of Tourism’s Tourism Promotions Board, will be offering free SIM cards to international tourists and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) returning to the country.
From July 30 to December 31,2015, the Globe Traveler SIM will be offered for free.
Tourists and OFWs can claim their free SIM by presenting their non-Philippine passport, foreign resident card, Seaman’s book, or OFW E-card at any Globe booths located at NAIA, Cebu, Davao, Kalibo, Iloilo, and Clark International Airport.
The Globe Traveler SIM allows users to receive calls and texts from abroad for free. They can also subscribe to TravelSurf promo at $11 for seven days or $23 for 30 days. International calls cost $0.40 per minute.
In its recent report, the DOT recorded a total of 2.23 million international visitors from January to May 2015.
DOT also found that the top ten countries from which most of the visitors come are Korea, U.S.A., Japan, China, Australia, Singapore, Canada, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and Malaysia.
