Peninsula Hotels ranked 2nd most desirable global hotel employer

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Peninsula Hotels group has been ranked as the number two most desirable hotel employer worldwide and the global leader in online or digital information, in a survey conducted by the Young Hoteliers Summit (YHS).

Respondents included more than 1,030 hospitality students from top hotel management schools in 99 countries.

The Peninsula also received the best-in-class score for its company website and social media, a status that will be further enhanced by the recent launch of the company’s new experiential website, peninsula.com.

The new website aims to tell a deeper story about the brand and its unique properties, offering an immersive, rich and dynamic digital experience that is captivating and visually impactful with extensive use of videos and photography. This survey was carried out before the launch of the new site.

The Peninsula ranked highest for brand image and salary, and was acclaimed as one of the top three hotel employers for learning opportunities, further education support, and non-monetary benefits.

Key words most frequently associated with The Peninsula are “luxury,” “top,” “leader,” “excellence,” “heritage” and “history,” which is in line with the brand image and positioning of The Peninsula, as acknowledged by current guests as well as the respondents of the survey, who are the company’s staff and guests of the future.

The YHS Hotel Employer Ranking was generated with the aim of putting global hotel companies in the spotlight by uncovering the perception of young talent worldwide.

Judging criteria included career opportunities, empowerment, work-life balance, brand image, salary, choice of job location, non-monetary benefits, and corporate social responsibility, among others.

Results of the survey indicated that students and recent graduates place a particularly high importance on career and learning opportunities and a proper level of empowerment at work.

YHS said the survey results were not controlled for the size of the company, which might put larger companies in an advantageous position. The number one global hotel employer was Starwood, which owns or manages almost 1,200 properties worldwide and has 181,000 employees compared with The Peninsula Hotels group’s nine hotels and 5,000 employees.

The Peninsula Paris will open later in 2014, which will be the group’s first hotel in Europe, and the company is currently hiring staff and preparing for the opening.
