Leisure and convenience at Grande Centre Point Sukhumvit-Terminal 21
Upon entering The Grande Centre Point Sukhumvit-Terminal 21, the first thing one would probably notice is its simplistic elegance. White with hints of gold is the theme and it continues when you enter your room, or in this review’s case, the 65sq.m. Grande Suite.
Located in the higher floors, the Grande Suite is a corner suite with a panoramic view of Bangkok City. Automatic blinds enable you to set the mood in both the living room and the king bedroom whatever the time of the day. The living room has its own 40-inch plasma LED, a washing machine (with dryer), a refrigerator, and a writing desk for days when you need to get down to business and slave in front of your computer without leaving the comfort of a luxurious hotel. It also has an in-room complimentary wi-fi access that is quite fast.
The glass-fronted bathroom is spacious as well, with a separate bathtub and shower, and an automatic toilet. The hotel also has an infinity pool, tennis courts, fitness center, and a spa, which is actually connected to the Terminal 21 mall.
For dining, there is the BlueSpice Restaurant at the 5th floor, which offers a good selection of dishes. The restaurant’s interior is modern western-style, spacious, and is adorned with stylish plain wooden tables and comfortable seats. For the lunch buffet, you can have your authentic pasta dishes, whether spaghetti, spinach ravioli, black-ink spaghetti, penne together with tomato, peanut, or meat sauce.
Seafood lovers can have their choice of scallop, prawn, New Zealand mussel, squid, and salmon, which can be added to enhance the flavor of your favourite pasta dish. Freshly-baked Italian-style pizza generously laid with cheese is also available daily.
For the health-conscious, there is the salad bar and to stick closer to home, the Asian corner serves authentic Japanese dishes like sushi, maki, seaweed salad as well as noodles and different kinds of dim sum such as dumplings and buns. Then there are the boiled, stir fried, deep fried and Thai dressed salad dishes, and a cold cut station that offers cheese from various origins and ham, salami, Parma ham, smoked salmon, and prawn cocktail that goes well with salsa or seafood dipping.
Leisure activities are aplenty when you stay at The Grande Centre Point Sukhumvit-Terminal 21 as it is connected directly to the BTS and the MRT systems. But if you want to stay nearby, you can always go shopping at the Terminal 21 mall, which is impressive all its own as each floor follows a theme of a popular city including Rome, Tokyo, and Paris. It also has a food court for those who want to budget their money but trust me, the meals there are just as good. There is also the convenience of buying a food terminal card where you can load it with whatever amount and you use it to pay in all the stalls.
For its price, amenities, very courteous staff, and excellent location, The Grande Centre Point Sukhumvit-Terminal 21, with all its 498 rooms, should be a favorite for those going to Bangkok whether for business or leisure.
