Czech beauty queen admires craftsmanship of Cebu guitar makers
MANILA, Philippines - The reputation of Cebu for making world-class guitars has gone far and wide. A beauty queen from the Czech Republic, Anna Avakjanová, recently took time off from her photo-shoot schedules and dropped by Alegre Guitars’ factory in Abuno, Lapu-Lapu City to see for herself the fun of making Cebu’s famous guitars.
Manager Fernando Alegre showed her how Alegre’s craftsmen assemble guitars, banjos and ukuleles from designing, binding, sanding to finishing. She clamped tight a guitar body and stringed a guitar and tested how the guitar sounded with the Alegre band.
Avakjanová is one of 10 finalists of the Miss Czech Republic 2013 who visited the country. Their fun experiences with the culture, hospitality and friendliness of Filipinos were filmed and are being shown until the coronation night in March.
The visit was organized as a tourism promotion project by the Department of Tourism, Department of Foreign Affairs, ESO Travel of Czech Republic, and AAP Travel, subsidiary of the Automobile Association of the Philippines.
Among the major sponsors of this visit were Audi Philippines, San Miguel Beer, AirPhil Express, Philippine Airlines, and Pasay City. Plantation Bay was the official residence of the Miss Czech Republic finalists in Cebu City.
