Happiness all around at Hotel Veniz
MANILA, Philippines - We recently discovered that Hotel Veniz provides the best view of the Panagbenga Flower Festival parade. From our perch a couple of floors up, we were able to appreciate more the parade formations, the uniqueness of the floral floats, and the massive crowd that came to watch this annual festivity. What we had, ultimately, was the best seat in the house.
Of course, we realized that Hotel Veniz, now counting 10 years or so in the business, offers more than just the view. Its location has proven to be its charm. Being in the heart of Baguio’s Central Business District has made it the hotel of choice of the city’s visitors.
Right across Hotel Veniz is Burnham Park, where locals and visitors go boating, biking, strolling, and people-watching. A few steps away is the city’s main thoroughfare, Session Road. The public market is in the neighborhood. And a little hop and skip brings a guest to the ukay-ukay shops.
“When you go to a place, you would want to be in the city. The location makes it easier for the guest to roam around,” said Hotel Veniz hotel manager Susan Reyes-Delenela.
“Hotel Veniz is at the center of it all. So it has been easy for travelers to pick us because of our proximity to commercial establishments and other points of interest,” Reyes-Delenela said.
“Since the hotel practically makes everything walking distance, guests are able to save up on public transport fares, among others. Because we are close to tourist-y attractions, they can spend more time exploring the city,” she added.
Even if guests are not so inclined to step out, they would definitely welcome the proposition of Hotel Veniz having various establishments under its roof: Sunshine Supermart, Sunshine Kodak Studio, Dennis Anthony Pharmacy, Expressions school and office supplies and, yes, there is even a McDonald’s in the building. There is also the homegrown Betty’s Kitchen, a friendly food court offering tummy-fillers such as sizzlers, toppings, snacks, and desserts at even friendlier prices.
“Have you seen our prices? It is almost like we are giving them away,” she remarked.
Well, she was not kidding. The elegant, casual setting of the in-house Veniz Grill delights the palate and gladdens the pocket. Where else can one enjoy three cakes for only P99? Or how about their very popular Mongolian grill? An eat-all-you-can-plus-drink promo can be had for only P189. The fact that the ingredients are always fresh — they got it fresh in Baguio anyway — is a real treat. One must also try the many items on the menu. We must also share that Veniz Grill has the best milkshakes this side of the city.
Café Veniz is, in a word, cozy. It is the type of place where one can just relax in a corner with pasta, salads, sandwiches, and pastries in tow, complete with cold or hot beverage. Even candlelit dinners here bring out the romantic in everyone.
“We offer true value for money. We are also proud to say that we advertise our free smiles!” she said. “The smiles define who we are as a hotel: ready to serve and happy to serve. We do not stop until a guest is completely satisfied with us.”
There are 104 rooms in the hotel, with many categories for guests to choose from. The thing is, these rooms are meant to be shared with family, friends or business colleagues, therefore more fun for the flock. There are single, double, triple, quadruple, and quintuple-occupancy rooms. These rooms are broken down further to include standard, superior, classic, deluxe, and suites.
“When we decided to open Hotel Veniz,” began its owner Mike del Rosario, “we wanted to offer guests a convenient, comfortable, and clean hotel that is also affordable. We wanted them to have fond memories of Baguio. While we have the amenities, such as air-conditioning units and television sets in our rooms and suites, and very strong free Wi-Fi within the hotel, it is still all about our people who help us achieve our goals.”
Its countless satisfied clients have obviously passed on the good word through the years. In fact, even business travelers and large groups have their place in Hotel Veniz. It has eight function rooms for groups of 20 to 500 attendees, ideal for workshops, seminars, birthdays, debuts, and wedding receptions, among other gatherings.
“We try to achieve whatever potential we have to realize,” Del Rosario continued. “We always strive to be our very best all the time. It is the only way to achieve our vision.”
Expressing excitement for the many years of service ahead for Hotel Veniz, he revealed that another hotel in the city is in the works. But right now, it is all about Hotel Veniz.
“We hope to always see happy faces around here,” he quipped. They sure will.
