It's more fun in the Philippines because...

WORDS WORTH - Mons Romulo -

Early last week the new slogan of the Department of Tourism,  “It’s more fun in the Philippines,” caught on like wild- fire throughout the country. It was pleasant news for a lot of us.  The slogan perfectly describes what tourists and balikbayans can expect when they visit our country! It’s a great slogan, great start, great news looking forward to more tourist arrivals in 2012.

Ramon  Jimenez, Secretary, Department of Tourism

Because the Filipino people are the best hosts in the world!

Iya  Villania, actress/host

There’s nothing like the Pinoy state of mind. Having grown up in Australia, I remember being amazed the first time I came to Manila, and saw for myself how the people are so warm, friendly, hospitable and have that unique temperament. It’s this rare attitude that enables them to be headstrong to overcome any problems, yet never takes things too seriously so as not to poke fun at themselves and appreciate the lighter side of life. I never saw that anywhere else.

John Prats, actor

Because we’re happy by nature. It shows in our faces, it shows in how we treat others and the whole world. Of course, having all our beautiful tourist spots and rich cultural heritage contributes a lot, but it’s our flair for fun and adventure that makes us always look at the positive side of life.

Vincent Bueno, singer/host

Despite being born and raised in Vienna, Austria, I’m proud to say that I’m 100-percent Pinoy! And after having been away for so long, it just feels so good to return to my roots and rediscover the country’s scenic spots, and bask in the warmth and genuine friendliness of the people. It’s more fun here because I never cease to be amazed by how creative and naturally-talented Pinoys can get with everything — with music, with technology and popular culture in general. And that makes us look bigger to the rest of the world!

Eating!  It’s more fun in the Philippines.  From the grandest to the simplest homes, whenever there’s a guest, Filipinos always serve food with the line, “Kain na!“ What could be more fun than sharing?

Getting a one-hour massage for $10 while yaya is watching your baby.

Marilen Concepcion, Pilates instructor

It’s more fun in the Philippines because people are always smiling.

Jo Ann Bitagcol, photographer/model

It’s more fun in the Philippines because it’s a beautiful, free country with incredible and loving people.

Freida V. Dario, travel writer

Filipinos have more fun! Our natural sense of humor keeps our incredible 7,100 islands afloat – through floods and calamities, triumphs and long weekends! Instead of taking ourselves seriously, we seriously take care of each other, our values, our families, and our foreign guests. We can show anyone a great time. In Boracay, for instance, there’s something to enjoy for everyone, and a mélange of interesting local characters who are more than happy to point you in the right direction, engage you in conversation, take you on an adventure to otherwise “secret” getaways, from day to night, till dawn — bring it on.
