Isn't it about time you experience Macau?

-

MANILA, Philippines - If you have not yet been to Macau, isn’t it about time you enjoy the distinctly unique experience offered by what is now Asia’s most exciting tourist destination?

So many Filipinos have already discovered the treasure that is Macau, making the Philippines its seventh highest generating source of visitors. You might want to find out for yourself what makes Macau tick.

Just 12 years after the historic handover of the former Portuguese territory on Dec. 20, 1999, Macau has become one of China’s — and Asia’s — most dynamic and fastest growing cities.

Operating on the “one country, two systems” framework of the Chinese government, Macau proudly showcases its distinct personality that was shaped by two rich cultures — Portuguese and Chinese.

It has diligently and carefully nurtured its twin heritage, making it a major tourist attraction that has contributed significantly in making Macau Asia’s newest entertainment, convention, meeting and sports hub.

The Historic Center of Macau, a living representation of the city’s historic settlement, is on the World Heritage List. Streetscapes and piazzas such as the Senado Square provide linkages to over 20 monuments and sites that contribute to Macau’s old world charm.

The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel has drawn other prestigious hotel brands as “neighbors.” The Conrad, Holiday Inn, Sheraton and St. Regis will join the Four Seasons from 2012 onwards to create a fully integrated resort offering gaming, shopping, entertainment, dining, and convention and exhibition facilities, as well as a multipurpose theater.

Other integrated resorts are the City of Dreams, home of iconic hotel brands such as the Grand Hyatt, Crown, and Hard Rock hotels; and Galaxy Macau, home of the world’s largest Skytop Wave Pool.

Of course, travel also means going on a culinary adventure and Macau offers an equally unique experience. Macanese cooking, after all, is a delightful blend of the West and the East — Portuguese and Chinese.

But Macau is also a place where some of the world’s finest international cuisine is on show. Even the most unadventurous individuals who long for home cooking wherever they go, will likely find a culinary delight in the numerous eating places throughout the city. And the prices are equally wide-ranging to suit everyone’s budget.
