Work and play at Summit Ridge Tagaytay

- Julie Cabatit-Alegre -

MANILA, Philippines - Summit Ridge Tagaytay has more things going for it than just the view — although even that’s a good enough reason to book a room in the hotel. Every room has a balcony overlooking Taal volcano and lake, Tagaytay City’s top tourist attraction.

The nine-story deluxe hotel is an imposing landmark on the ridge, more than 2,000 feet above sea level. It is a great place not only for family vacations but also for office seminars, company conventions and conferences. In fact, you can do both. After a week of corporate planning, teambuilding, seminars and meetings, you can extend your stay and have your family join you for a weekend of leisure and relaxation. That’s having the best of both worlds, all in one place.

All the guest rooms are equipped with modern conveniences to ensure your pleasant stay.

The Summit Learning Center, which has a 147-seat capacity, is designed as a modern conference venue, with a Harvard-style auditorium equipped with state of the art audio-visual facilities. The executive tables and chairs have individual outlets for laptops and electronic gadgets. There’s a built-in projector screen as well as a technical control room.

A view to a kill: Hotel guests get a view of the Bloomfields exclusive residential community from Summit Ridge Tagaytay.

All the events, meeting and training rooms — which are named after trees such as Oak and Birch, as well as types of nuts such as Chestnut, Walnut and Hazelnut — are designed with an Asian tropical vibe. All the rooms are equipped with modern audio-visual facilities and complimentary wireless Internet access. The Raintree Ballroom, with a floor-to-ceiling height of five meters, can be partitioned into three separate function rooms.

A scenic elevator brings you all the way up to the ninth floor. At the topmost level of the hotel is the Sky Lounge, which serves as a party venue with the spectacular view of Taal Lake as a natural backdrop. For big events such as weddings, anniversary parties, and team-building activities, there is the Event Lawn, an outdoor space designed to take advantage of the cool Tagaytay climate. It is directly accessible to the swimming pool. There’s also an indoor basketball court and a badminton court, as well as a gym.

The Seri Asia spa and wellness center is the latest addition to the hotel’s list of amenities designed to pamper its valued guests. Its menu of services includes its signature spa treatments, facial treatments, massage therapy, vichy treatments, body scrubs, and hand and foot treatments. There are also the Seri Asia wellness retreat packages such as Asmara for honeymooners, and Syarikat or spa party. The ultimate spa retreat, Mundur, includes a wellness meal prepared by the chefs of C2.

Lounging in the sky: Summit Ridge’s Sky Lounge offers a spectacular view of Taal Lake.

The light meals are presented in elegant Bento boxes. Drawing inspiration from the three elements, “Air” features a chicken mango salad, while “Water” has a shrimp salad and tuna mousse canapé, and “Earth” offers skirt beef and a roasted vegetable sandwich.

Seri Asia taps into the wisdom of ancient healthcare with its natural healing products imported from Malaysia. Signature treatment oils are used for slenderizing, firming and purifying the skin and body. The products used in the spa may also be purchased and used in the comfort of your own home.

If shopping is your idea of relaxation, right beside the hotel is the Summit Ridge Promenade, a small shopping complex, like a community mall, that has a number of specialty shops, curio stores, hardware, fast food, cafes and restaurants.

Of course, right at the hotel there is Annie’s, Summit Ridge’s in-house restaurant operated by the Cravings group, the same people behind the very popular Classic Cuisine or C2. Enjoy American comfort food as well as all-time Filipino favorites. Another Tagaytay landmark, Josephine’s Restaurant, is just across the street.
