MANILA, Philippines - Filipina beauty is, without a shadow of a doubt, on the rise. After years of slowly yet steadily climbing the ranks of the fashion ladder, the country is finally at a place where it should be: among a select and exclusive pool of countries that have made their mark on the global fashion and modeling map. Clearly, this much can be said: we are at the top of our game, and we can only go higher.

And our ultimate crowning glory? In the ever-prestigious Ford Supermodel of the World 2010, Filipina representative Danica Magpantay bested hundreds of other beautiful contestants and emerged as the Grand Winner, a strong proclamation to the entire world that a Filipina is now the chosen global face of fashion. Yes, 30 years after Ford Supermodel of the World officially started, the Philippines has gained a firm foothold in the elite fashion and beauty circle — a harbinger of even grander things to come for the country.

With this year holding even more promise for girls like Danica to stand out globally as they exude the country’s unique brand of beauty, Runway Productions’ Joey and Audie Espino once again head the exciting quest to find the next Filipina representative for the 2011 Ford Supermodel of the World.

Taking the global fashion scene by storm: Filipinas Charo Ronquillo, Danica Magpantay and Charlene Almarvez

Established in 1980 by the estimable Eileen Ford of the renowned, longest-running model-management company Ford Models, the prestigious Ford Supermodel of the World competition covers over 50 countries to find fashion’s newest faces year after year.

Well-known products of Ford Supermodel of the World include Brazilian Adriana Lima, American Chanel Iman, and Korean Kang Seung Hyun, all of whom are taking the global fashion scene by storm. The Philippines has also had its share of victories, with Magpantay and other past winners Charo Ronquillo and Charlene “Chat” Almarvez now gracing the international runways as successful supermodels.

The Philippine winner receives a one-year modeling contract with CalCarrie’s International Models Philippines, formal training at Masters School for Models and a roundtrip ticket (with pocket money) to New York, to represent the country in the Ford Supermodel of the World finals for a shot at $250,000 worth of modeling contracts from Ford Models New York.

Be one of the Filipinas who will follow in the footsteps of past Filipina Ford Supermodel of the World winners and be the next catwalk sensations of New York Fashion Week! Interested applicants must be natural-born Filipinas at least 14 years of age, with clear complexion, an impressive bone structure and proportional body measurements. They must also have a pleasing personality and project self-confidence and a positive attitude.
