Island Cove upgrades property mg't system
MANILA, Philippines - Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park recently upgraded its property management system (PMS) to the latest version of the Opera Xpress Version 5.0.02.01/24.
The hotel’s new PMS went live last Oct. 5.
Opera Xpress is a slimmed-down version of the Web-enabled Opera PMS, Hotel Edition.
It was designed to provide tools to manage various properties of any size with even more functionality than the Fidelio Front Office System Version 7.11.
Prior to upgrading to Opera Xpress, Island Cove operated on Fidelio Front Office System Version 7.11.
Some of Opera Xpress’ practical features include customer profiling, rate/availability management, check-in/out, centralized reservations and group/block management, accounts receivable, account management, cashiering, housekeeping, front desk operations, and night audit.
Opera Xpress is also capable of providing extensive reports on revenue, market segmentation, guest history, occupancy forecast, statistics and the like.
Island Cove managing director Gilbert Remulla said, “We are enthusiastic about our new investment.”
“The Opera Xpress will help us improve our service and manage our property with a higher level of productivity,” he added.
The operating system allows remote access, which means that authorized personnel can log onto the system from any computer with Opera Xpress software at any given place at any given time to observe the movement of the hotel operations. It is expected to make coordination within offices faster and easier.
Island Cove’s front office, sales and marketing, and finance departments underwent a comprehensive two-week long training on Opera Xpress operation.
The training was facilitated by Cristopher Erfe, project manager for hotel systems of Micros-Fidelio Software (Philippines) Inc.
During the training, the employees of Island Cove learned how to manipulate and maximize the features of the Opera Xpress PMS. They also put painstaking attention to its configuration.
In line with this, the company will undergo an organizational restructure to complement the change in the operating system. A room revenue manager will be added to the sales and marketing team.
The room revenue manager’s main responsibility will be yield management. The front office in the meantime will focus on guest satisfaction.
