Zen Institute opens Sofitel branch

- Lester Gopela Hallig -

MANILA, Philippines - Medical tourism has taken a step further with the recent opening of the Zen Institute’s Sofitel Philippine Plaza branch.

Known for its medical spa concept, the Zen Institute brings to Sofitel its experience and expertise in non-surgical skin and body treatments. The Zen Institute is housed in Sofitel’s Le Spa.

“We are constantly promoting the Philippines as the destination for medical tourism, for one’s wellness, health, and beauty,” says Zen Institute founder Dr. Mary Jane Torres-Valdecañas. “This tie-up with Sofitel realizes medical tourism to the hilt.”

“Sofitel, being a world-renowned hotel, enjoys a very high status in the international market. Having Sofitel house the Zen Institute makes the hotel our window to the foreign market,” Valdecañas explains.

Because the Zen Institute is integrated with Le Spa, clients can choose from a wide array of treatments to pamper themselves.

“What is great about this arrangement is that we offer a totally stress-free environment. Only Sofitel can provide the proper ambience needed by customers to fully enjoy our services,” she adds.

Sofitel’s general manager Goran Aleks asserts that the hotel decided to lead the local hotel industry when it comes to introducing a professional medical spa.

“We are actually supportive of the Department of Tourism’s promotion of the Philippines as a medical tourism destination,” Aleks says. “We have researched many medical spas in Manila and we chose to go with the Zen Institute because our preference is a holistic spa that offers non-invasive treatments and services.”

Aleks relates that the first meeting with Valdecañas involved the discussion of the Zen Institute’s philosophy. He remarks: “We hit it off immediately. So now we have opened the Institute, and are very excited to have them as our partner.”

For Valdecañas, the partnership with Sofitel is “an honor.” She says, “We provide the treatments that clients need while Sofitel provides a place where they can relax afterwards for a couple of days or so.”

The Zen Institute at Sofitel is open from Monday to Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
