Singapore's Asia fashion exchange

MANILA, Philippines - Join Asia’s most fashionable elite as they gather in Singapore this April for the first-ever Asia Fashion Exchange (AFX). An initiative of the International Enterprise Singapore, Spring Singapore and the Singapore Tourism Board, the premiere event aims to promote the region’s top talents and provide an international gateway to the best of Asian fashion design.

Designers, fashion industry insiders and fashion watchers can expect a host of exciting activities and events that will let them meet and be inspired by the best creative minds in Asian fashion.

The premier networking and sourcing event for the international fashion trade is Blueprint from April 29 to May 1 at the Pit Building, a three-day glamorous exhibit by Asia’s brightest creative talents. The cutting-edge showcases, previewed by the Asian fashion industry’s biggest decision-makers, will help set the course for the region’s fashion scene.

Offering a venue for the exchange of the top trends and techniques in the fashion business is the Asia Fashion Summit from April 28 to 30. More than 200 of the most influential creative forces behind Asia’s biggest names in fashion are expected to converge and network at this event, helping brands and labels stay current with the latest trends and directions.

The Audi Fashion Festival will be held from April 28 to May 2 at Ngee Ann City. It will feature world-class collections by top international designers and labels like Roberto Cavalli. After the show, participants can hobnob with designers, supermodels and other fashion insiders at the festival’s exclusive red-carpet gatherings.

Aspiring designers across Asia will also present their creations in the Fashion Design Competition. The contest promises a dazzling display as the designers bring out all the stops to win a coveted one-year internship with a leading Asian fashion house, a mentorship, resources to design and produce a collection to be presented in next year’s AFX, and prize money. Twelve finalists have already been chosen and the top three will be revealed on April 27.

Singapore’s biggest malls and retailers will also be in on the celebration. In conjunction with the AFX, the Fashion Season @ the Orchard will offer six straight weeks of everything fashion from April 2 to May 9. Awaiting visitors at the Fashion Season are shopping and dining promotions, parties, fashion workshops and fashion shows as Orchard Road’s biggest brands and stores present their spring-summer apparel, accessory, jewelry and cosmetic collections. There will also be a street fashion photography exhibit and other special events by Canon.

Through the 1st AFX in Singapore, the region now has a convergence point for styles and trends, much like Paris, Milan and London in Europe, and New York.
