Edsa Shangri-La's year of excitement
MANILA, Philippines - It is already a new decade and Edsa Shangri-La is showing no signs of stopping. Indeed, that is practically the promise of the hotel’s general manager Sinan Yilmaz who shares that, despite becoming the number one hotel in its area, Edsa Shangri-La is out to take its products and services to the next level.
Fact is, Yilmaz gave us a peek into its 2010 agenda. “In terms of professional service, we are going to delight our customers even more. We are going to implement a scheme wherein checking in to the hotel will be hassle-free, among other things.”
“We want each customer to enjoy a different experience every time they come here, but with the same Edsa Shangri-La touch that they have known,” he continues.
“That is also, more or less, the idea behind our executive club Horizon, where breakfast, high tea, and cocktails are served. We are having renovations as well. There will be a close collaboration with our designers so when everything is completed by next year, the sophistication and Filipino touch will be more evident.”
Yilmaz shares that 2010 will be a year wherein more quality operations will be implemented. Yes, that means everything will be bigger and better — including the food and beverage offerings at their in-house restaurants HEAT, Paparazzi, Senju, and Summer Palace.
“There will be 14 different menu cycles happening this year. We are going to showcase a more extensive Filipino menu featuring the different regions of the Philippines,” he says. “Filipino food is not just lechon, crispy pata or sinigang. Personally, I love Filipino food. I would love to see the day when people will think of Edsa Shangri-La when they think of Filipino food.”
He also reveals that the Italian restaurant Paparazzi will undergo more exciting changes as well. Aside from the 92 different types of Italian wines on the menu, Edsa Shangri-La will play out the paparazzi concept of film, glamour, and photography to the hilt. Others such as the Chinese restaurant Summer Palace and Japanese food outlet Senju will continue bringing the best service and dining experience.
Yilmaz likewise announces that the Lobby Lounge will go through changes as well. “Aside from the well-loved personalized service there, we are making sure that the lounge will be a feast for the eyes, too. We will change the flower arrangement every week and set up a nice small stage every day for a quartet.”
For the coming Chinese New Year on Feb. 14, the Isla Ballroom will be open for revelers. Lauriat will be served lunch and dinner. There will be a special Yeesang menu and Valentine’s Day menu from Feb. 12 to 14.
Guests can join the dragon and lion dancers as they perform the much-awaited prosperity and luck dance while a feng shui expert will read fortunes for the Year of the Tiger during the Chinese New Year’s Day lunch.
“So you see, it is all about quality for us. We will definitely exceed quality standards and expectations. I can feel that 2010 will be a strong year. We are moving in a positive way,” Yilmaz concludes.
