Intercon to hold dinner show for charity
MANILA, Philippines - Expect to have a great time when three of the leading names in the fields of hospitality, fashion and dance get together for a good cause on Nov. 26.
InterContinental Manila, which is celebrating its ruby (40th) jubilee this year, will hold a dinner show, Lines and Movements, at its Grand Ballroom on this date for the benefit of the Center for Health Improvement and Life Development, a halfway house in Manila for sick children from the provinces while they undergo medical treatment. Net proceeds from the event will be remitted to CHILD HAUS.
Tickets at P3,000 net each are now on sale at the hotel’s lobby concierge desk. Ticket holders will be entitled to a four-course gourmet dinner, inclusive of wine, followed by a show featuring a 43-piece fashion collection by the dean of Filipino designers, Ben Farrales, and dance numbers by the world-acclaimed Bayanihan folk dance company.
A necklace of gold South Sea pearls by Jewelmer will be auctioned off for charity by lifestyle columnist Maurice Arcache.
Farrales’ collection will consist of four suites: Filipiniana, notably elegant ternos; Muslim Mindanao; European and Wedding (Maria Clara, Muslim and European-inspired gowns).
Bayanihan will perform a lively number from their Bailes de la Calle Anda repertoire, which are dances that were performed at the popular Teatro de la Mallorca in Calle Anda in Intramuros, Manila during the Spanish colonial era, as well as a re-conception of Cotabato maidens in a medley of dances set to the rhythms of the gandingan, a giant gong. Just as visually enchanting are dances inspired by the maya (native brown sparrows), the award-winning vinta singkil inspired by Mindanao sailboats and folklore and those from the company’s Teaching and Touching Lives program in Marikina and General Trias, Cavite like the zapatero (shoe smith) and kawayanan (bamboo dance).
The hotel will have its Merry Ruby Christmas décor scheme by Filipino floral architect and artist, Rachy Cuna, in time for this very important occasion. Cuna will also take charge of the Grand Ballroom decoration.
Lines and Movements is co-presented by the Lifestyle Network, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Princess Cruises, The Philippine STAR, 105.1 FM Crossover, Jewelmer, Globe Business, The Philippine Daily Inquirer, and Pepsi Global.
