Ricky Reyes' Hair Olympics draws tourists
MANILA, Philippines - President Arroyo was overwhelmed by the influx of more than a thousand tourists from neighboring countries in Asia when the 13th Asia-Pacific Hair Olympics was held at the Philtrade Center of the Philippines.
She was the guest of honor during the opening rites of the 2009 Hair Olympics, founded and organized by Asia-Pacific Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association (APHCA) president and Filipino Hairdressers Cooperative Inc. (Filhair) founder Ricky Reyes.
Tarlac Rep. Nikki Teodoro, wife of presidential contender Gilbert Teodoro, was also one of the VIP guests at the event.
The tourists, who came from participating countries Hong Kong, Macau, China, Taiwan, Korea, Mongolia, Japan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Cambodia, were welcomed warmly by other guests of honor, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority director general Augusto Syjuco and Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace Durano.
Reyes said APHCA will continue to do its share in helping the country’s tourism sector. “Rest assured that we will be involving the different countries that are participating in our events more and more in the years to come. The victory of APHCA will be the victory of our tourism industry as well,” he said.
