Challenge course opens at Island Cove

MANILA, Philippines - Island Cove Hotel and Leisure Park recently launched the newest addition to its team-building facilities, a challenge course.

The challenge course, located at Island Cove’s Adventure Zone, is an outdoor activity that consists of high and low elements.

The low elements are group-oriented challenges situated on or near ground level. Special safety systems, other than spotting by group members, are required.

High elements are team-based challenges set 30 feet above the ground. Safety equipment similar to the ones used by rock climbing and wall climbing outfits is essential.

Island Cove’s challenge course is capable of handling low element games like mowhawk walk, trust fall, low tension traverse, and team wall. Meanwhile, catwalk, high tension traverse, and zip line are some of the high element games that may be conducted.

Island Cove managing director Gilbert Remulla said, “The challenge course at Island Cove is the perfect team-building or family-bonding activity. The experience provides members with an opportunity to get to know one another in a deeper way than any other activity. Succeeding on the ropes requires risk-taking, quick decisions, conflict management, and many other aspects of everyday business and family life.”

According to Remulla, the decision to open the challenge course, in addition to the numerous sports and recreation facilities that were launched at the resort last year, is part of the management’s plan to continuously provide its guests with new and exciting facilities.

Moreover, Remulla said, “We are always on the lookout for the newest trend in the industry. We have made a considerable amount of investment to continuously improve our offerings and make sure our resort stays ahead of the game in terms of guest facilities and amenities.”

Last year, Island Cove opened a paintball field, an airsoft game site and a bike trail as part of its thrust to become the premier business and leisure destination where adventure never stops.

Improvements were also undertaken in its numerous sports and recreation facilities, including the tennis courts, basketball court, gym, swimming pools with giant slides, jogging lane, and billiards hall.

Island Cove, which has been in the hotel and resort business since 1998, has catered primarily to the family, frequent individual travelers (FITs) and corporate markets.
