More dining choices on Asiana Airlines

-

MANILA, Philippines – Asiana Airlines (OZ) has raised its dining options a notch with new menu offerings. In an effort to add variety and healthy choices, the five-star airline will begin serving popular Korean dishes that promote health as part of their in-flight menu.

Samgyetang or ginseng chicken soup, and neng somyun or cold noodles will be served until the end of August. Samgyetang, samgyejuk (ginseng chicken porridge) and samgyejim (steamed herbal chicken) are dishes that are regular features in Korean summer menus. The dishes contain oriental herbs and are considered healthy for restoring energy. Samgyetang is recommended especially for passengers on long-haul flights.

Asiana has also introduced traditional dishes like black rice and black sesame soup which will be exchanged for the cold soup provided in the western menu of the business, and first class meals. Cold noodle soup made from kimchee will also be provided in the new menu.

For passengers with time to spare at Asiana’s hub in Incheon International Airport, the Asiana lounge presents a new menu prepared by top chefs from Westin Chosun Hotel. Called the Chef’s Corner, their menu includes Korean dish bibimbab with seasoned spring greens, hwajeon or pan-fried rice cakes with flower petals; and fresh strawberries and strawberry shake for refreshment.

Asiana has been offering a distinguished chef service at their lounge since November last year. For special occasions such as New Year’s Day and Christmas, passengers have enjoyed rice cake soup, bibimbab and even roasted turkey. Chicken yakidori and grilled salmon are now available daily at the first class lounge. The business class lounge also serves up hot sandwiches and Vietnamese rice noodles regularly.

Asiana Airlines flies out daily from Manila, Cebu and Clark to the many destinations in the US, Europe and Asia. The multi-awarded airline, which won the 2009 Airline of the Year award, has recently announced daily flights to New York City.
