'Timeless Baguio' up at Victory Liner-YKL exhibit
MANILA, Philippines – Drawing in more than 1,500 entries, with four lucky entries chosen by an esteemed group of judges, the “Timeless Baguio as an Idyllic Tourist Destination” photo contest launched by Victory Liner in partnership with YKL Color-Fujifilm, capped off its successful run with an exhibit at its Baguio terminal.
Graced by Baguio City Vice Mayor Daniel Fariñas as well as Anthony de Leon, chairman of the executive committee of the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation, and Dr. Gil Bautista, chairman of the Baguio Centennial Commission, the photo exhibit showcased various interpretations on the beauty and splendor of the City of Pines.
The winning entries were Fernando Zapata’s “Foggy Baguio” (first prize), Roger Tingle’s “My Hometown” (second prize), Lino Almuenda’s “Victory Terminal” (third prize), and Silvestre Quintos’ “Victory Joe, Welcome to Baguio” (special prize).
Apart from the winning entries, also on display at the exhibit were the 100 finalists.
The exhibit will be brought to select Victory Liner terminals in Northern Luzon.
Marivic del Pilar, treasury and marketing head of Victory Liner, says, “We hope to entice local and foreign tourists to come and visit the beautiful places in the north like Baguio City. With Baguio celebrating its centennial year, we felt that an exhibit of images that capture the heritage and tradition of the city serves as a fitting tribute to such a milestone.”
The winning shutterbugs received cash prizes with the top winner getting P75,000 and special gift packs from YKL Color-Fujifilm.
Renowned travel photographer George Tapan and cinematographer Romy Vitug, UP College of Fine Arts professor Joey Tanedo and Chit Asignacion, vice president of Chanum Foundation, Tam-awan Village, were among the judges.
