Mabuhay in Paris
It is a tradition that during the country’s participation in European travel fairs, the Philippines hosts a Mabuhay Night. It is during this occasion that the Philippines pays tribute and gives honor to the many industry partners who have contributed to promoting the country as a preferred travel destination. The Mabuhay Night was held at the La Palmerie which was decorated in a tropical motif. Over 300 guests enjoyed the food, the company and also the entertainment from the Philippines.
“It is wonderful to be here in Paris,” said Secretary Ace Durano. “We are happy to renew our ties with you here in France.”
Among the friends and industry partners present that night were Singapore Airlines-France GM Gerry Seah, Vacances Transat (tour wholesaler) Armell le Scalon, Patrick Gardin; Adventure Line Production( Koh Lanta) producer Thierry Graff, Laurent Thibierge , and TF1 Frank Firmin Guion, CEO of ALP TV, the premiere national TV station in France; and His Excellency José Abeto Zaide, the Philippine Ambassador.
The party started off with Koh Lanta host Denis Brogniart introducing the finalists of the Koh Lanta Palawan. They have become well known in France because of their participation in the show.
Entertainment for the night was provided by Acoustic Jive led by singer May Bayot. The Bayanihan dancers also had their own performance. But for me, the most exciting was the “flair bartending” performance done by Matthew Burgos of TGIFriday’s, Bonifacio High Street.
Filipino bartenders are known the world over, and Matthew, who won in the Asia-Pacific competition of TGI Friday’s and was second runner-up in last year’s TGI Friday’s world competition, lived up to that reputation.
The party was great and since both the French and the Filipinos are lovers of good food, good wine and music — the party lasted till the wee hours of the morning.
