Filipino travelers get lucky in Singapore

-
First-time visitor to Singapore, Filipino Jun Moya, never had it so good. Upon setting foot in Singapore for a holiday mid-November, he was met with a great surprise when the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) welcomed him as the 150,000th Lucky Filipino Visitor to Singapore in 2003.

"I’m glad I chose Singapore as my holiday destination. I’m still overwhelmed by the terrific welcome STB gave me, and of course, the prizes are something else!" declared Moya, the corporate planning and budget control manager for Total (Philippines) Corporation.

Moya won for himself a return trip to Singapore with a six-day/five-night stay for two in a five-star hotel, inclusive of roundtrip Business Class airtickets and S$2,500 cash to splurge. "This is royalty. STB really knows how to treat its visitors. I already look forward to coming back!" said Moya.

On hand to welcome Moya were STB’s area director for Philippines and Brunei, Rocson Chang, joined by the Tourism Attache of the Philippine Tourism Office in Singapore, Phineas Alburo. "I am very excited for Jun and very pleased to welcome our 150,000th Filipino visitor to our shores for the year. Now he has another reason to return and enjoy all that Singapore can offer – world-class events, great shopping, interesting and unique attractions, a buzzing nightlife, tempting cuisines ... the list is simply endless," said Chang.

Still up for grabs is an extravagant eight- day/seven-night stay in a premium hotel, inclusive of roundtrip First Class airtickets and S$5,000 cash, which will be awarded to the 200,000th Filipino visitor – the top prize for STB Philippines‘ "You’re OK" incentive program. Earlier in October, another Filipino – Hazel Weber – was the 125,000th lucky visitor to Singapore, winning for herself roundtrip airtickets to Singapore for two, four-day/three-night hotel accommodation, plus spending money of S$1,000 cash. Hazel will return to Singapore in December, just in time to marvel at the world’s greatest Christmas Light-Up – an annual spectacular event. This year’s Christmas Light-Up theme is "Christmas in the Tropics."

"This is an exciting incentive program that many truly appreciate. I’m very glad that we’re part of this project. It speaks well of the close relations between the STB and Philippine Tourism Office here in Singapore," commented Alburio of the Philippine Tourism office in Singapore.

The STB incentive program, known as "You’re OK!" is an exclusive marketing effort conducted in the Philippines. Adjunct to STB’s worldwide "Singapore Roars!" campaign, travelers are in for an exciting visit to Singapore with a myriad of activities for every whim and want.

Travelers can further enjoy perks via the "Roaring Great Deals!" brochure when in Singapore. Enclosed is a special card serving as a passport to fantastic discounts, deals and promotions. With it, you can also join in the "Roaring SurPrizes" daily game running till the end of the year where one can win daily prizes including a grand prize worth some S$20,000. In fact, in November, another lucky Filipino visitor, Corazon Sanchez, found herself the winner of this monthly grand prize. All visitors will have one more chance at it this December.

So, whether one is in the Lion City for business, pleasure or taking advantage of the wonderful offers for your Christmas shopping. Singapore offers something for everyone. This December, besides the Christmas Light-Up, one can also watch professional wrestlers go at it when the ever-popular WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) comes to Singapore or participate in the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon. You can also visit the Night Safari – Singapore’s top attraction – or experience a Duck Tour, or get your adrenaline pumping with the Reverse Bungee ride – Singapore’s newest attraction.

"Take it from me... this is a great time to be in Singapore! I encourage all Filipinos to take full advantage of "Singapore Roars," our ongoing promotion which will conclude at year’s end. And who knows, you may well be the 200,000th Lucky Filipino Visitor to Singapore!," enthuses Chang.
