The Ifugao Rice Terraces has long been considered one of the Wonders of the World, but most Filipinos have seen it only in postcards and pictures. Now, Causeway Tours is offering a Banaue Mountain tour on a "Pay 1-Free 1" price promo to encourage more tourists to see the picturesque terraces.
This "Tour in the Clouds," which includes Bontoc and Sagada, promises never-ending thrills of breathtaking mountain escapes of the Grand Cordillera. Focal point of the tour is the visit to the Banaue Rice Terraces.
From the Viewpoint, some 20 minutes away from Banaue Hotel, can be seen spectacular panoramic views of a seemingly endless chain of fully terraced mountains, hand-carved for rice planting hundreds of years ago by Ifugao ancestors. Seeing the terraces from the Viewpoint can be a humbling, awesome experience.
The Banga-an, a traditional Ifugao village, may be found at the base of a fully terraced mountain. Souvenirs may be purchased from woodcarvers and weavers in the area.
A bonus to the Banaue Tour is a view of Mt. Polis on the northwest border of Ifugao. The Bontoc and Sagada portions of the tour include visits to the museum of Igorot culture in Bontoc and the sacred burial caves of Sagada.
The Causeway Banaue Tour is a three-day and two-night adventure scheduled on Nov. 1-3. For further inquiries or reservations, call Causeway Tours at tel. nos. 851-7294 and 853-8728 or cellphone (0916) 3963963.
