15 to watch out for this 2015

SUPREMO - Tim Yap - The Philippine Star

They’ll shine without even trying. Save the names, watch them soar.

Luster is the uncanny ability to shine even when you’re not trying. Skill is that gift which stems from the divine that you must hone to realize your purpose. Passion is that innate force from within you that burns so bright people can feel it. Each year, we compile the people who have an over abundance of all of the above. These fine individuals from all sides of the spectrum will lead the movement for the year to come. Presenting Supreme’s list of 15 to watch out for this 2015. Save the names, watch them soar.

Dominique Cojuangco

Gretchen and Tonyboy’s daughter is a full bloomed lady and her exposure and studies in London can only propel her higher. With a keen interest in fashion, we await what the scene’s newest It girl will be up to.

Abba Napa

One of the moving forces behind The Moment Group, Abba is behind 18 of the hottest restaurant concepts all over the metro — from Bistro du Vin, Phat Pho, Mecha Uma, to 8Cuts, Burger Bar and this year, the much-awaited Din Tai Fung, she is changing the way we eat out. To top it off, she’s hot.

Elaine Abonal

Elaine, the woman behind Surfista Travels Philippines, is fast becoming the face of women surfers the same way Luke Landrigan is to male surfers. She is also a language instructor, a freelance writer and photographer.  Elaine Abonal is a female surfer making waves, literally.

Jack Alindahao

We are still not familiar with Jack’s work but guess who commends his work highly? Mark Nicdao. “I’ve seen a lot of photogrpahers’ works, but this kid is good.” We look forward to getting blown off by your work, kid.

Junemar Fajardo

The reigning PBA MVP, according to the sports world’s finest commentators in the Viber Pinoy Pride public chat, is “the most unstoppable player in the league.”

Patrick Diokno

The Rogue art director’s exposure to the work of Steve Tirona and Mark Nicdao, among other young masters, has carved unto him a distinct mindset and unique point of view. He is our photographer-to-watch for 2015. His body of work? You’ll see more of him here and soon, all over.

Kobe Paras

The son of legendary PBA player turned actor Benjie Paras is only in his teens but is already committed to play in one of the most historic basketball programs in college history, UCLA. Kobe is one of the few homegrown Pinoys to make it to that level.

Gino Santos

A Cinemalaya staple and now one of the youngest directors of Star Cinema. At 25, Gino Santos is slowly making a name for himself for his glossy ways of story telling as seen in his latest film #Y starring Elmo Magalona and Jasmine Curtis-Smith. He just finished a movie starring Sam Milby, slated for a 2015 release,

Reb Atadero

Reb got his big break in this year’s surprise hit Dani Girl, a musical about a girl dealing with cancer, where he played her angel, appearing in multiple character incarnations all throughout the show. Fully committed, animated and a bright light onstage, Reb is a favorite of theater companies, hopping from Rep to 9Works and Atlantis. He will be playing Jack in Into the Woods directed by Joel Trinidad, opening this January 2015.

Aryanna Epperson

The standout winner of this year’s MTV VJ hunt, Aryanna is a multi-media triple threat. She delivers the music to a generation hungry for it, makes videos and blogs for audiences, too. She’s intelligent, she’s relatable and her blogs reach millions. And she’s just getting started. Brands managers, take note!

Anton Mallari

With photorealistic representations of the world around him, from pop to traditional images but in a thoroughly contemporary manner, Anton Mallari has created his own visual iconography that makes him the artist to watch this coming year and beyond. His exhibit this year at Blanc Gallery this year was sold out before it even opened. There is a growing wait list for his works and he has exhibits lined up all over the world, a steady following and a growing wait list. He is 28 years old.

Janine Gutierrez

With glossy covers lined up for 2015, Janine’s freshness is undeniable and her star rising. Her lola lineage is spot on, with Pilita Corrales on her dad’s side and Nora Aunor on the mom’s. Not only is she poised for showbiz stardom with TV shows lined up by GMA-7, she is also a fashion industry favorite, a chameleon and muse to visual sniper BJ Pascual.

Tab Baldwin

Former coach of New Zealand and assistant coach of Gilas, he has now been appointed as the head coach of the national team. The momentum for Team Philippines is quite high — let’s see if Coach Tab will bring it higher.

James Reid and Nadine Lustre

Yes, the Wattpad King and Queen’s breakthrough year was this year, but expect more from this love team as they’re getting geared for new and exciting projects lined up for the teen generation, from movies to TV shows and tours. Glitzbiz insiders note that both have the potential to make it to megastar levels, noting Nadine’s mass appeal as what will push her to the top.

Bruce Ricketts

Rockstar chef Bruce Ricketts is on fire in his open kitchen at Mecha Uma, the breakthrough restaurant of the year, known for its artsy and yummy ways of cooking and presenting food. He has been a buzzword in the culinary circle even when his first restaurants opened in both northern and southern parts of the metro, but it was only when he set up Mecha Uma did he get his rightful throne. Expect more things sizzling from this young master.
