Koji Arsua - The Philippine Star

Head to  the Wanderland Music Festival

MANILA, Philippines - There’s no need to worry about flying to California just for Coachella, because legit music festivals are sprouting and taking bloom in Manila. Tonight, it’s the Wanderland Music Festival, and it’s bringing in 11 bands to perform. Wanderland is a must-go for most people because of The Temper Trap, who sang 500 Days of Summer’s Sweet Disposition, but the other bands are just as exciting, each bringing their own flavor for the Filipino public whose music tastes are evolving. The other bands are: Neon Trees, Nada Surf, Avalanche City, Colour Coding, and Tully on Tully. To add a local touch, Filipino groups such as Up Dharma Down, Yolanda Moon, Pulso, Taken By Cars, and She’s Only Sixteen will also be performing. The festival will be held at the Globe Circuit Event Grounds (the former Sta. Ana Racetrack in Makati), and will start at 11a.m. Don’t forget your flower headdresses!

Be a whole lotta woman at the pre-op/post-op party

We have many names for what people call “trannies,” but the world would be a much more beautiful place if we just call them what they are: girls. And to celebrate their beauty and feroshness, TodayxFuture will hold #GGSS, the pre-op/post-op party tonight, featuring the “tranniest DJ list ever.” The Testosterone Girls, a trio of gorgeous young queens, will headline the act with their debut spin, showing that this generation’s batch is a whole lotta woman. Scene queen Shahani Gania promises a show or a showdown, so this is a premiere worth checking out. Guests are advised to come as their “most feminine creature.” Time get out of the closet and head to Future!

Artwork

Mixing art and fashion has always been a beautiful thing (check out the upcoming collaboration between Uniqlo, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat), but what if you could mix fashion with your art? Today, Artwork is giving everyone the opportunity to create their own “Mona Lisa” with the Tee Party. Those who want to test their creative chops can purchase a silkscreening kit, choose their designs and colors, and personally make their shirt, while Up Dharma Down croons in the background. Fashion, art and music will come together to celebrate individuality and uniqueness, and there’s no better way to do it than with a personalized Artwork tee. Screw the Met Gala, this is the Costume Institute. Party starts at 4 p.m. today, at the Cinema lobby of TriNoma Mall, Quezon City.

Metro Serye

The Metro Serye series is a bite-sized literary effort that aims to make literature more accessible to a popular audience. And by bite-sized, we mean it comes as a sort of map, complete with folds. Despite its easy-read status, each issue’s packed with works by respected artists, poets, and writers. Today, the fourth issue will be launched at Cool Beans Café. The fourth issue will focus on art, and it will be curated by Kiko Machine creator and resident Metro Serye artist Manix Abrera, featuring works by Nice Buenaventura and Wiji Lacsamana. The launch will be at 4 p.m. at Maginhawa Street, Quezon City.
