SUPREME QUIZ: It’s more emotional in the Philippines
MANILA, Philippines - According to a US-based poll that was released this week, Singapore ranks as the least emotional — or, to quote one report, the “numbest” — nation in the world behind Georgia, Lithuania, and Russia. And the most emotional country? Ehem, it’s the land of teary-eyed interviews on The Buzz and where emotions are let out in videoke sessions via Alone or Aegis’ Ulan! Why, it’s the Philippines, of course!
Over 150 countries were surveyed by US pollster Gallup. From 2009 to 2011, 1,000 respondents were asked if in the previous day, they felt five positive feelings (smiling and laughing a lot, feeling well-rested, enjoyment, being treated with respect, and learning or doing something interesting), and five negative feelings (stress, anger, sadness, worry and physical pain). While only 36 percent of those surveyed in Singapore experienced the range of those emotions daily, the Philippines had 60 percent of its residents saying that they had those 10 emotions on a daily basis. See, it’s not only more fun in the Philippines, apparently it’s also more emotional here.
We are pretty sure that you weren’t lucky enough to have been interviewed by Gallup, so we’re letting you experience the survey. Shade the circle of your appropriate answer and then find out how emotional you are using Supreme’s very own judgmental evaluation below.Shaded circles mostly on the 1st column: You don’t keep emotions to yourself. You must also have texted or called your best friend at 2 a.m. just to ask, “Te, pangit ba ‘ko? Ba’t hindi n’ya ko mahal?” You’re not a fan of “itulog mo na lang yan.” You must be a Pinoy.
Shaded circles mostly on the 2nd column: This just in: it’s okay to smile and frown sometimes. Hindi nakamamatay. You must be a Singaporean.
Shaded circles mostly on the 3rd and 4th columns: You’re very, very emotional. Your emotions run high on both ends of the spectrum. You react quite easily — and how — to everyday inconveniences and thrills. If something good or bad happened, you must tweet or Instagram it — or it didn’t happen. Learn to relax and breathe sometimes. Take a yoga class. Walk on Sunday mornings. Smell the flowers. You must be half-Pinoy, half-Twitter.
Shaded circles mostly on the 5th column: You must be half-Singaporean, half-deadma. Tseh!
