20 years is a lifetime
In the short span of today’s relationships, it is safe to say that 20 years is indeed a lifetime. When twitter feeds out scoop news sources, when reality stars decide to end a marriage, when a new IPad is launched. Yes, these as the times we live in.
My first foray into the colorful world of fashion was through my sister’s subscription of Mega. Stuck at home and reading up a storm, I stumbled into Mega’s glossy pages and it was there where I discovered the wealth of talent that is Filipino. Designers, models, brands, party people — it was my first foray into a world that I would eventually inhabit.
20 years is no joke. It means passion. It means commitment. At the Mega magazine. 20th anniversary event which showcased the grand finals of the YDC or Young Designers competition, Mega showed their commitment to the new and the now, opening doors for people who want to be the next fashion superstars and building bridges across industries. Sari Yap, channeling Madonna’s Superbowl moment, encapsulated the energy that is the YDC — a platform of ideas, a springboard of new talent, and an industry fire starter.
Productive and creative movers and shakers in one room results in a spontaneous combustion of ideas and results. What kind of results? Only time will tell. Look back at Mega’s 20 years and you’ll see how a local glossy and industry has grown. And my oh my, what a good 20 years it has been.
Here’s to 20 and more, Mega!
