‘Kapamilya’ of the week: Iza Calzado

MANILA, Philippines - A new celebrity move has happened on television and surprisingly, it does not involve TV5. Kapuso star Iza Calzado has transferred to ABS-CBN on Tuesday, signing a three-year deal with the network which includes a TV series, a reality show (rumor has it that it’s the second season of The Biggest Loser — ooh, burn, Ate Shawie!), and a film. Iza has been with GMA for 10 years and said that it was “time for me to grow, to evolve” and “to learn,” but we wonder where TV5 was while all this was happening. — Koji Arsua

Screening of the week: SM Bigshot Film Festival

In spite of having a budget of just P600,000 for each film, the three winning entries for the SM Bigshot Film Festival, namely Suntok sa Buwan by Bianca Catbagan and Jono de Rivera, Balang Araw by Archie Dimaculangan, Jono de Rivera, and Franne Cheska Ramos, and Tahanan by Krizzie Syfu finally premiered in SM cinemas earlier this week. The films mark the feature-length directorial debuts of the three groups of filmmakers and will all screen until the Jan. 31 in select SM cinemas. Divorce of the week: Heidi Klum and Seal

Fashion’s strongest marriage is now over as supermodel Heidi Klum and musician Seal are officially filing for divorce after seven years (49 in Hollywood years) of marital bliss. The two are known for renewing their vows every year, but the seven-year itch must have hit the couple, causing them to say auf wiedersehen to each other. The two have separated amicably and cited “irreconcilable differences,” but many speculate that Seal’s temper was the deal breaker for the pair, though it could also be the stress of coming up with “creative” Halloween costumes every year. Seriously, their costumes were out of this world, and we all couldn’t very well expect them to keep them up every year. Sigh. — Koji Arsua

Kabogera of the week: Belle Daza

Gloria Diaz’s oldest daughter Belle Daza was once quoted saying “My mom already has a crown. So if I want to wear it once in a while, I can.” That statement was in response to the one question that has undoubtedly hounded her ever since she entered the spotlight: Will she follow in her mom’s footsteps and compete in the Bb. Pilipinas beauty pageant? While she has been resolute in forging her own path, Belle made good on her word about her mom’s crown when she showed up at Tim Yap’s Mad Hatter Birthday Ball last Jan. 24 at the Marriott Ballroom. While everybody decided to don top hats, fedoras, and mardi gras headdresses (Cristalle Henares, we’re looking at you), Belle upstaged everyone wearing a long gown and her mom’s crown.
