Rogue magazine takes over Paris with Anne Curtis
MANILA, Philippines - For Rogue magazine’s October issue, the most ambitious undertaking in the magazine’s four years, there was no other woman for the job but Anne Curtis, leading lady and “Princess of All Media.”
The magazine, together with Jewelmer and L’Oreal Paris Philippines, pulled out all the stops and brought the Rogue production to Paris fittingly, perhaps, after Anne’s last Rogue shoot, July 2008’s now-classic first anniversary cover. “It’s the biggest thing we’ve ever done, the most layouts, the most covers and with the biggest star,” says Miguel Mari, Rogue’s creative director.
The city of lights was the perfect backdrop for the guerilla shoot. “It happened to be Fashion’s Night Out,” says Mark, “and ang daming nagpapa-picture kay Anne. Even there, she was a star.”
The resulting 35 pages the longest the magazine has ever dedicated to a cover girl stand as an achievement in local publishing, a top-tier team working at full potential. And of course, it was Anne. “Every pose she made, she just nailed it,” says Miguel. “She just fit the vibe we wanted in Paris. She was so carefree, super confident. She’s not shy. She has a European sensibility about her.”
The rest of the Entertainment issue more than lives up to the three soon-to-be iconic covers. In its 35th anniversary, Rogue goes deep into the heart of a Philippine jungle to take a look into the making of Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now, weighing the devastating price of an enduring classic. Meanwhile, the compelling and always controversial Mother Lily opens up her home and her life in a rare tell-all from the Regal Films matriarch, talking about everything from bankruptcy to blockbusters.
Veterans from local showbiz talk about trade, too: Jose Javier Reyes writes an exclusive tell-all on Philippine TV, Ricky Lo talks about life as a dirt detective, while Girlie Rodis gives a peek into star-making.
