Best of the Week: Losers, cheaters, transformers and baby sisters
Big Event Of The Week: Neville Longbottom Brings Sexy Back
MANILA, Philippines - We know, you still can’t get over Harry Potter and can’t believe the last movie is now showing. After this, it will all be finished. It’s the end of an era, folks. And this week, as we say goodbye to Harry, Hermione and Ron on the silver screen, we also get a refreshingly new look from, of all people, Neville Longbottom! Matthew Lewis, who’s played Neville bucktooth since movie number one entered some kind of magical growth spurt and turned into one bloody sexy wizard! This phenomenon has even prompted New York magazine to ask, “Where were you when you realized Neville Longbottom has gotten really hot?”
Social Network Of The Week: Cheaterville.Com
There’s a site floating on the Interwebs that will be your best friend in getting the head’s up on your lover. Cheaterville.com, founded by a company that goes by the same name, aims to shame cheaters online by letting spurned lovers post and create profiles for infidels and describe their erm, extracurricular affairs. “Don’t be the last to know” is the site’s slogan, encouraging people to try searching for their romantic prospect’s profile first on their database before entering into a relationship.
Famous cheaters such as Tiger Woods, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bill Clinton are included in the hall of fame where readers also comment on the subject’s affairs. Last time we checked, we tried searching for Hayden Kho, but it returned zero results. Now’s your chance, Katrina Halili.
Celeb Baby Of The Week: Harper Seven Beckham
Before there were Azkals (or the billboard-deprived Philippine Volcanoes) in the Philippines, the pioneers of football cheering squads in the country ogled and gazed at the marvels of quintessential player, athlete and father, David Beckham. Last week he became a father for the fourth time to his and Posh’s first daughter, oddly named Harper Seven. The name Harper was suggested by their three boys who were big fans of the Disney show Wizards of Waverly Place. Seven was added since it was David’s favorite number, it being his jersey number also when he was with Manchester United. Originally, when ultrasound tests showed that the baby would be a boy, they wanted to name him Justin Beiber Beckham, after their idol. When it was later found out to be a girl, they suggested Justine Beiber Beckham. Imagine that.
Loverboy Of The Week: Scotty The Marine
You know, you could go out on a date with your biggest celebrity crush if you just asked. Sgt. Scott Moore of the US Marines did and he got himself a date with actress Mila Kunis. The marine decided to take a shot and post a YouTube video of him asking out the actress on a date. “I just want to take a moment out of my day to invite you to the Marine Corps Ball with yours truly,” he said to Kunis. The video immediately reached the actress’ camp, though it was really Justin Timberlake who egged Kunis to accept the date. She will be flying to North Carolina in November to attend the ball while Scotty will have to fly all the way from the Afghanistan to meet his date.
Remake Of The Week: ‘Dallas’ By Tnt
If a TV series deserves a remake, then it must have been really popular when it had its time. Remember Mara Clara? Marimar? Charlie’s Angels? Some things are really worth a second shot. This week, American network TNT confirmed it will be redoing the ’80s smash hit Dallas, which stars Patrick Duffy and Larry Hagman. For kids of the 90s and the ’00s, the show may no longer be relevant, but people from the older decades will surely have a blast. Aired from 1978-1991, the original series was one of the highest-rating prime time soap operas of all time. No word on whether the shoulder pads will be making a comeback on the show as well.
Endorser Of The Week: Mario Mauer
Mario Mauer, popular Thai model and actor, is Penshoppe’s latest endorser, closely following the heels of their last international endorser, Gossip Girl actor, Ed Westwick. The 22-year-old celebrity is best known for roles in films The Love of Siam (2007), which was featured in the Cinemanila Film Festival where he won Best Actor in the Southeast Asia division, and Crazy Little Thing Called Love (2011), which was aired on ABS CBN. He’s slated to visit the Philippines soon to shoot his campaign for the local retail brand, and not to share screen time with Kim Chiu or Marian Rivera, according to rumors. In fairness to Penshoppe, laki ng budget!
