For all the layout obsessive compulsives and font fiends, Manila Design Week is the collective for everything graphic. Mid-week through the lineup of talks, seminars and live exhibits was the “What’s in Your Bag?” fashion and design shindig in Greenbelt 5. Aside from the blown-up cubes of images exposing the everyday objects that find permanent space in bags, my attention was on how people came to the event. As usual, in the rare times that I was able to mingle with like-minded creatives, my focus turned to the turnout. If creativity was reinterpreted through the collaboration of celebrity, photographer and graphic artist as seen in the exhibit — the style army came reinterpreting themselves. So it was interesting to see that with the collision of design and fashion, it’s not really the usual stale fare of ubiquitous sartorial uniforms.
