Supreme Exclusive: Beyond the velvet ropes at the Oscars
MANILA, Philippines - Oscar buzz on its way, what with studios preparing all their machinery to be the most worthy to receive the most coveted gold statuette in pop culture history. If you’re living under a rock, the 82nd Academy Awards is a few days away — airs on March 8 to be exact at 6:30 a.m. for the red carpet and pre-show with the main show at 9 a.m. Velvet is home to the Oscars where it airs live, as well as ABS-CBN, which airs it at 9:30 a/m.
I never really wake up that early to catch the Oscars, but I know most of you guys do. You might be interested to know that this year, Oscar is putting on a youthful face, recruiting teen superstars Miley Cyrus, Zac Efron, Taylor Lautner, and Kristen Stewart to serve as presenters on this year’s kudocast. Here in our shores, the Velvet Channel always cooks up something to drumbeat the Oscars using our very own Mileys and Zacs.
The Oscars Tribute exhibit is a Velvet on-ground campaign, which made its debut last year. Remember the photo rendition of The Godfather (with Deither Ocampo on the cover), which bagged the gold award? How about Christian Bautista as Edward Scissorhands, which won second place? These celebrities, among others, captured images of unforgettable Oscar-nominated films. This year’s exhibit is no less a thrill — featuring a mix of the scene’s favorite crossover stars, it happens next Thursday at the Ayala Museum, open for public viewing at Greenbelt 3 and Eastwood Mall. Get ready to witness the most memorable and dynamic Oscar duos. Okay, we don’t want to preempt the exhibit, what with the country’s most sought after artists and artistas collaborating on an Oscar-noteworthy film, so what Supreme can do is give you the next best thing, for now.
Supreme presents the behind-the-scenes for the Oscars Tribute exhibit. Up next week, only in Supreme — the Oscars exhibit, featuring your favorites from the field of showbiz, pop culture, and design. Drum roll, please.
