Henri Calayag's Best Tressed list

SUPREMO - Tim Yap -

It’s a new year, time for a new ‘do! But before you do the ‘do, you gotta look back on this year’s head turners, based on a list from hair master Henri Calayag. The guru and member of the Pantene Style Council, the most elite group of hair stylists in the region, Mother Henri, as he is fondly called by the fashion industry, has been at the helm of the heads of the most prominent members of the style society and the jet set. Whether you have long beautiful hair like Dawn Zulueta-Lagdameo or short (now long) like Celine Lopez, Mother Henri is the go-to guy for all of this town’s snips at style.

Here, he gives us a list of Hair Hall of Famers — women whose mane has become the subject of not just envy — but given another reason why the hair up there is called crowning glory.

Anne Curtis

Whether on television or in movies, Anne draws out the inner romantic in all of us with her jet black fluidity. At the risk of sounding like a shampoo commercial, Anne makes us feel like we are in a shampoo commercial, mesmerized by hair’s every move.

Audrey Puckett-Chiu

Whether with her Hong Kong team or Manila posse, this jet setter is a mother of five boys, a wife and an entrepreneur. With all her roles in life, her hair — from finger waved elegance to drop dead gorgeous — as well as her style, draws raves from all over.

Pia Guanio

The daily grind of facing the cameras to deliver the freshest news entails your look to be fresh as a daisy and updated with the latest like Pia Guanio. This girl is energy personified — her hair is only a testament on how she is always at the top everything, stories included.

Liz Uy

Style is something Liz is oozing with, whether she is styling stars or overseeing shoots for Preview’s glossy pages or for advertising campaigns. Not one strand out of place, Liz knows the importance of hairstyle to make a statement, which Liz always effortlessly does.

Ruby Gan

Life should be lived with color, and so should your hair. Ruby is that one individual that is unafraid of taking risks, and she applies it to her hair — from China Chop to bob, she has successfully transcended each cut and color to call it her own. What’s that style? The Ruby cut.

Ruffa Gutierrez

You can take the beauty queen away from this girl. No matter what you do, statuesque Ruffa will always tower above everyone, her head waiting for its rightful crown. Still the best crown is a good cut, and Ruffa knows this all too well. And we’re not talking about diamonds.

Tweetie de Leon-Gonzales

This generation will know Tweetie to be the first supermodel to have crossed over multi-genres and up to now is the only one to be still active and remain effective as an endorser. All these roles in life have made Tweetie a modern classic — timeless and priceless.

Ina Calalang-Ayala

Society and charity can be so lucky. Doing the rounds with the view of Ina Calalang-Ayala makes any event more pleasurable to cover and makes you donate more to any given charity.  She is what we call a class act — never boring, always interesting.

Sam Eduque

Her regal Town and Country cover was an apt royal comeback for IT girl forever Samantha Eduque, whose presence never ceases to turn heads with her casual air of relaxed elegance. Whether in a white shirt and jeans or in a Pepito Albert dress, Sam spells W-O-W!

Lizette Cojuangco

Whereas other women choose to scream, Lizette chooses to declare a statement with nary a whisper. Nothing says “polite society” more than a warm smile. Hers can brighten a room, without any effort. Cheers to silent waters.
